candlegirl Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 2.5* in Erie, PA for $79 + tax = $93.54Hotel amenities: smoke free rooms, fitness center, business center, complimentary breakfast, pool, laundry facilitiesHotel is Downtown Erie Hotel. When I looked online, the price if I booked directly with hotel is cheaper than hotwire price. Even though hotwire says 2.5*, tripadvisor gives very bad reviews on this hotel.

candlegirl Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 We stayed at the hotel this past weekend and it was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The bath tub was rusting. The sink didn't drain properly. We booked two rooms. The other room .... the bed hadn't been made and the entire room smelled of alcohol so they gave us another room. I think most people that are in the hotel booked through hotwire. The hotel is a 1.5 star at best. I have already applied for double the difference (which you must do within 2 days of booking) but they haven't replied back yet. I've read reviews of hotwire that I will likely have trouble getting the difference back. Hotwire is not what it used to be.
thereuare Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 In my experience HOTWIRE has actually been very good at honoring their Double the Difference claims. I've had a few issues with hotels not honoring their own Best Rate Guarantees, but from what i've seen HOTWIRE has honored all legitimate claims. candlegirl Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 Hotwire did give us double the difference money back and has lowered the hotel to 2 star instead of 2.5 star. They gave us a $50 credit ($25 per room) on our HOTWIRE account. It was nice of them to give me the $50 credit however, I would have preferred never to have stayed at the hotel in the first place.
thereuare Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Glad to hear they honored the Double the Difference Guarantee (as i noted above, my experience is that they're excellent in doing so... not like many hotel companies that try to 'weasle' out of their best rate guarantees)Hope your future stays are better.
