Jayace Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Hi, I'm new to PRICELINE and wondering what the best strategy would be to book a hotel on the beach in Ft Lauderdale for Sat Jan 17, 2009 for 1 night. Couple of questions:Is it too soon to book and get the best deal?Looking for 3 or 4 * for $100. Is this realistic? What's the best way to do it?Thanks in advance for your help.
thereuare Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is it too soon to book and get the best deal? For "when to bid" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ....book a hotel on the beach in Ft Lauderdale...With PRICELINE you can't guarantee a beachfront property, all that is guaranteed is a hotel within the zone that you selected at the minimum star rating you selected. You might be 'safe' bidding for a Resort, but still there is no reequirement that a Resort necessarily be on the beach. If a beachfront hotel is a need, rather than just a want, you can use HOTWIRE which will show you a Beachfront icon (or a Beach access icon if the hotel is a short walk to the beach rather than directly on it) so you can know beforehand if it will satisfy that requirement of your stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Jayace Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Beachfront isn't a need, would just be nice. Beach zone would be just fine.
thereuare Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Do you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit and then try for a 3* property or are you looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel for your dates? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Jayace Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 I think the least expensive 3* or better is probably the way to go. We have the Days Inn Bahia Cabana booked for $175 as our backup but would like something better for cheaper if we can get it
thereuare Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 At the current time i don't think $100 will likely be enough, but with time on your side i would try to lowball anyway as you have nothing to lose by doing so.At the 3* level you have one re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Lauderdale Beach...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
