Priceline Hotel: Could use some advice

I have never used Priceline before. I have been reading this board for a week or so now. I will be in the city next tuesday (the 24th) for a night with the wife. I was unsure if we were doing this so I had not been attempting anything with Priceline. I have a backup reservation at the Hudson for $229 but I would like to do better if at all possible. I don't really care what district I am staying in as long as the wife is happy. I am seeing a show at the garden so walking distance would be cool but I don't mind a cab ride. I am just wondering how I should go about this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

As i'm sure you have discovered, this is an expensive nite in NYC.

Would you (and your wife, of course :) ) be happy staying Downtown in the financial district? In terms of 'better' than The Hudson (for which $229 seems like a pretty good rate)... what is the minimum star rating and maximum bid you'd be willing to accept?

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

Yeah I have realized that the 24th seems to be an unusually expensive night. I was going to surprise the wife but then realizing how small the Hudson rooms were I figured I should probably show her first. After she saw the bar and everything else there she decided it would be fun and she could handle the room for one night. Next time I spend a night I am going to try for a weekend when it seems to be cheaper. I will be sure to come back here for that. Thanks
