murvin Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I just did a bid for $55 for strip south and was counter offered $77.Changed the bid by adding north strip zone and increased the bid to $60But priceline did not accept the bid. I dont want to risk adding new zones other than these 2 zones. so i did a signout.Do i need to wait for 24 hours again. I was wondering if i can do a new bid using debit card with 24 hours?... May be i am wrong. i never tried this.Worried that tommorow it will be further high. Also going to LV with 4 adults and a infant. Am i risking by going a single room considering i would ask for 2 beds. Please advice. I have to travel these dates as i have booked flights.Any input and help is appreciated. Did not login into forum but used the PRICELINE link here.

thereuare Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Are you familiar with re-bidding?At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones available (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them). Please see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. We'll then suggest a strategy for your follow.pricelen.hotwire Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

I was afraid of picking a zone which i thought did not have a 4* and eventually the rating getting changed. I think the las vegas airport region does not have 4* and i could safely do a rebid. can you advise if i can do that. Also thru Las Vegas Price Checker i found NYNY for 409 for 4 people. Is it safe to book a room with 4 people outright then take the chance with priceline booking and go there and ask for a 2 bed room? Worst case i am prepared to book a hotel there may be through priceline if they dont accomdate all 4 of usplease advise.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I was afraid of picking a zone which i thought did not have a 4* and eventually the rating getting changed.Which is why you need to check the star ratings available in each zone before every bidding cycle, using the technique from Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)You are correct that the Las Vegas Airprot zone does not current offer 4* or higher bidding, but there is one other such zone, and it would probably be best to use them in conjunction with each other to come up with a systematic gameplan to follow going up to your maximum bid. Feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your two re-bid zones with the board (again, Summerlin is not one of them)Also thru Las Vegas Price Checker i found NYNY for 409 for 4 people. Worst case i am prepared to book a hotel there may be through priceline if they dont accomdate all 4 of usI'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but are you saying to book a room as a 'back-up', then show up with 4 people on a PRICELINE reservation... then if the room can't accomodate all for of you use the room you booked direct for the other two people? If that's the question, then the problem that i see is that if the PRICELINE reservation can accomodate all four of you, then you'll be 'stuck' with the hotel direct room since there is usually a penalty (one nite fee) for cancelling inside of 48/72 hours (not sure of their specific policy)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. murvin Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 I did a rebid using this PRICELINE link. ended up with westin causrina for $70 a night.bit disappointed with the win and also the reviews on resort fees is not encouraging.I should have booked NYNY directly from the site for $410 for 3 nights. repent now for not doing it.I was hoping for luxor or planet but this time i run out of luck.thanks for the wonderful forum and keep the good job going.Regards
thereuare Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 Sorry to hear you're disappointed in the results of your purchase. This is about half price a direct booking at this property for your dates, as well as almost half price of the NYNY. So while perhaps not the ideal hotel you were hoping for, it is a pretty good value for these dates.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding.Hope you're luck is better in Vegas :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
murvin Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Thanks thereuare.Yes we stayed at westin for 3 nights. rooms are good. Heavenly bath, bed, star bucks coffee, vanity kit, double bath, small casino. seude resturant. pool was small. did not do the spa there. resort fees after some talk with the manager i got it down by a day. but paid for the other 2 nights.the hotel was not that bad. it is definately off strip and i just wish priceline removes this hotel from the south strip hotel. On the good side i won a $120 from the casion at the hotel.. :))....
