windymulder Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 At first glance, this hotel is a dive. It is not located in a nice part of town and looked a little scary at first. The clerk was nice, but the person sitting in the back lacked professionalism. He was on the phone with someone arguing about the different things he was having fixed and what-not. There were some rooms that were being re-done, but my room was not one of them. When we walked up to the second floor and opened the door to our room, I was not amused. There was one bed and enough towels for 2 people. I did not go back to the desk and request anything different because the check-in lady knew that I had 3 children with me and still chose to give me the room. We made due, but I learned never to bid on a 2* again, as these are the economy class hotels that charge more if there are more than 2 people. After we got over this shock, I was actually kind of impressed with the hotel. The room was older, but clean. There were lots of channels on the television and a table with two chairs. In-room coffee was provided, as well as a iron and ironing board. They have a nice pool that goes from 3 feet to 9 feet. My kids were happy because they don't like the shallow pools that seem to be the norm. There was an abundant breakfast buffet that included scrambled eggs, sausage links, hashbrown patties and french toast sticks, all taken care of by a cheerful attendant. After breakfast, it was a straight shot to I-480 to get me on my way home. In all, this room provided what we needed-a bed, some recreation and a hot breakfast. This was a difficult time to find a hotel in Omaha/Council Bluffs, so I should be happy that I had this.
