rickblyth Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Hi,I'm using the UK version of Priceline to try and book 4 nights in NYC, September 20th -> check out 24th but I'm having trouble working out what I should be bidding. I would like to stay in 4*MTE but would be happy with MTW (we're first timer NYC tourists). Looking at the forums and last year's prices I started bidding at an extremely optimistic
thereuare Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Fall/Autum is an expensive time in NYC... it may very well take more than $200/nite for a 4 star hotel (although the economy here is slowing, so i wouldn't bid too high and rush things at this point). However, with 'high demand' dates, is there a reason you're only bidding the MTE and MTW zones... why not also include Times Square, CPS, and/or ESB?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. rickblyth Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 Well, the only reason really was that I read the area guide on this forum and thought MTE sounded a decent area. We're only in our late 20s so don't need complete peace and quiet but don't want to be right in the very central if it's too crowded and loud.
thereuare Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 It's not that users need to avoid the Times Square so much as they don't need to target it... we get so many users who are first time visitors to NYC and only want to stay in Times Square, and it's just not necessary. As well, when prices go up, it's usually best in NYC to expand your zone preferences since the midtown zones are so compact there is little difference from one zone to the next (in terms of ease of getting around the city... if you're trying to target/avoid a specific hotel then it's a different story). For the typical visitor, MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB all work out pretty well. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
