nakkal
I am travelling to Vegas from July 13th to July 17th (Sunday - Wednesday). This is going to be my first trip there. My budget is going to be $85/night. I am not sure on whether to use PRICELINE or take the offer from "Las vegas hotel checker".The hotel checker has $90/night for NYNY. Is it a good deal or will I be able to get a better deal from PRICELINE. Any ideas on how NYNY is?Also, how do you compare NYNY and MGM Grand? MGM Grand 120/night on hotel checker.Which room/hotel is better?Grand tower room at MGM Grand or Park avenue strip view at NYNYThanks to everyone. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! The 'problem' with using PRICELINE for this stay is that there are some hotels (most notably the Westin) which is within the boundaries of the Stip zone but slightly off the strip... most find it walkable, but not the ideal situation for a first time Vegas visitor. However, if you search HOTWIRE there is a 4* hotel in the South Strip zone (amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa.... 4/5 Tripadvisor with 1840+ reviews) for $69/nite... this is a match for the MGM Grand and that would be our best guess.Locationwise NYNY and MGM Grand are across the street from each other so i don't one is better situated than the other (however, MGM is on the Monorail side so that makes getting to the Northern end of the strip a bit easer.I used to not be a fan of the MGM Grand due to its size, but had an opportunity to stay there recently and i was won over... room size bigger than the typcial Vegas room and the room was in good shape. I'd have no problem returning. If the MGM and NYNY were priced the same i would probaby take the MGM again, but ultimatley would go with which ever was cheaper, which in this instance appears to be the MGM thru HOTWIRE.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let su know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. nakkal
Thank you for reply. This will help me a lot in my decision.I have one more question. What do you think is the hotel which is listed in hotwire as 4* hotel in the Central Strip (amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa.... 4/5 Tripadvisor with 980+ reviews) for $89/nite Link to comment
thereuare
The above is a match for Paris so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. nakkal
I am finally thinking between two things.1. The "5th avenue" offer for NYNY. It gives a strip view upgrade for $84/night. I found this offer from the vegas hotel checker.2. HOTWIRE offer which you suggested for $69/night for MGM grand. Can you help me decide between the two? Thanks a lot. Link to comment
thereuare
I was "won over" by the MGM Grand on my recent visit and would welcome staying there again, and given the lower price, i would go with the HOTWIRE offer. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Diamond Dog
It's also worth adding that the MGM has a much better pool area, if that's important to you. Link to comment
TheBigNasty
Does this site have a Venetian link? Venetian has VERY good offers right now for $100/night. Promo code: EVTMP08. Link to comment

anne4hoang
I normally use priceline for my trips, but Vegas hotel prices are so cheap during the summer that I just book directly through the hotel. Here are some prices that I found for your dates using Travelocity:Buffalo Bill: $19 per nightSahara: $34 per nightStratophere: $34 per nightTropicana: $41Excalibur: $52Luxor: $70And here is a great link for printable coupons for shows and restaurants:http://www.lasvegas-nv.com/las-vegas-coupons.htm-Anne Link to comment
mrsalexb
I would not listen to the last persons reply. Your first trip to Vegas should be as good as it can be and any of the hotels that she listed from Travelocity all will make you regret your purchase. MGM Grand is a good hotel...Paris is awesome becuase of location and the hotel itself (CENTER STRIP), NYNY is not that great. If it were me I would spend the entire $85 budget on the hotel and get the best you can afford. It really does make the difference in your stay. Also do not miss Cirque de Soliel (any of them) you can get up to half price tickets the morning of the show in a stip mall across from the huge hotel/city they are building in the center strip. Also you can call tix4dinners and they offer 1/2 price dinners for certain restaurants, some of which are REALLY good!!! When we were there they had the following restaurants available....Enoteca San Marco (VENETIAN) Penazzi(HARRAHS), Bally's steakhouse (BALLY"S), Al Dente (Bally's), Le Provencal (PARIS), Les Artistes (Paris), Ah Sin (Paris). So basically you pay a $2 cover price and you get you go to the restaurant and you get half off your meal. Im sure the restaurants have changed but since you are going during low season it is possible that you will have more options. Have fun Link to comment
nakkal
Thank you evryone for your suggestions. A special thanks to "mrsalexb" for the extra info ...I found a offer for MGM grand from $59/night. Has anyone used this offer before? MGM Offer Link to comment
thereuare
That's an offer sent to Player's Club members but there's usually no problem using them (it's not a targeted offer)... just sign up for for their players club online and pick up your card before checking-in.
