bellagirl Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 First post--hope I am doing this correctly! There is a hotel listing on Hotwire for $96, 4* Chicago Loop, checkin June 26th for 1 night. Amenities are Fitness, Business center, restaurants and Internet access. Any idea which hotel? Thanks so much and would greatly appreciate any deals or discounts on any other downtown Chicago hotels. Just my 7yr old daughter and I, so I would prefer something close or near michigan ave. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Welcome to the site :)This would likely be the Palmer House Hilton. It is a very good deal as it's just about half off for a very historic property in the middle of the Loop.If you choose to go with this listing, we ask that you please start your purchase by clicking on our HOTWIRE link (click the HOTWIRE) as it supports the site.If you would like to try and undercut the HOTWIRE price, I'd recommend trying to bid for a hotel on PRICELINE. You may get a different hotel on Priceline, but at least you'd be getting a 4* for less if your bid was accepted. If it's not accepted, you're not charged.I'd recommend a starting bid of $75 for a 4* in either the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park or River North/North Michigan Ave. areas on PRICELINE. The Palmer House Hilton is a 4* in the Millennium/Loop/Grant Park area. Please use our PRICELINE link.If you have any questions, please ask.
bellagirl Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 Thanks for your info! Have another question--saw a 3.5* on NMA for the same date for $109. Features fitness, restaurant, business center and internet. Any idea which hotel this might be?? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Would likely be the Allerton. I'd much prefer the Palmer House over the Allerton.Or, if you are interested in staying in the NMA area, I'd bid for it instead of taking the potential Allerton.
bellagirl Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 Do you mean bid for a hotel through PRICELINE/your link in the NMA??
bellagirl Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 I am back to square one with travel. Still need a room for Thurs, June 26th for 1 night. Taking daughter to American Girl Place & Navy Pier. Ideally, would like to be located somewhere in the middle of these two points. Tried bidding on PRICELINE today through your site and was rejected. Bid $70 on 4*NMA and bid $75 adding Loop and was still rejected. Should I wait until tomorrow to rebid and should I bid on a 4* and 3* in NMA area only? If you know of any other travel codes or coupons/hotel deals I would greatly appreciate the advice!! Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 You do have two re-bid zones available when bidding 4* in Chcago... are you using them? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) If you're not familiar with re-bidding it's HIGHLY recommended you ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bellagirl Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 I have read both Hotwire and Priceline forums, FAQ, etc. Per above post I know I can get a 4* in the loop for $96/hotwire. Per AaronJB thought I might try to bid lower using Priceline.I would like to get something around $85-$90 range on priceline. When I bid earlier, I used the NMA, and then added the loop. When I rebid, can I still bid 4* and add the Lincoln area (I want to make sure there are no 4* in the Lincoln area before I add that to my bid. I checked on Priceline to see what the hotel/star ratings were in the Lincoln area and they seemed very low. I just want to make sure I am not making the mistake of adding another area that is too far away from where I need to be. Thanks for your patience and help.
bellagirl Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Per other post below--what are the chances of getting the same hotel (Wyndham Chicago) for Thursday, June 26, 1 night for $90 through PRICELINE. Are chances pretty good??
AaronJB Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 One can't say what the chance is at getting a particular hotel for a particular date for a particular price on Priceline - that's what the service is about - paying less because you don't know what property you may end up with. If you need a particular hotel, I wouldn't use PRICELINE as you can very well end up at a different property. Additionally, the post below is also for different dates 6/26-29 versus 6/26.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. (if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll move this entire thread to that section of the board)I'll add that if you're trying to target a specific property (still no guarantees though) HOTWIRE can often be a better solution as you're able to take an educated guess as to the property offered based upon the amenities shown. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do or if we can be of further help.
