rental on any Hawaiian Island

Two things:

Just thought I would mention this here about car rentals on the islands in general. I have had fairly good rates from http://www.carrentalinhawaii.com on two prior trips and so far they have better prices than most major travel web sites. Nice things about them: They compare most major rental agencies and offer good rates from all if you are picky. They also do not require any prepayment or even a credit card to lock in the quote!

I have not tried renting through PRICELINE yet but only because they do not list some specific vehicles. Most times on the islands I prefer to rent a Jeep Wrangler. That is not one of the options you can check on or request with PRICELINE. I guess you could take a chance on a "SUV" but I don't want any old SUV, I wanted a Wrangler.

Has anyone been able to rent a Wrangler (especially on Kauai) through PRICELINE?

Has anyone been able to rent a Jeep Wrangler on any Hawaiian Island (especially Kauai) using Priceline? I know several rental companies offer them and they are pretty popular rentals on the islands, but the only category that Priceline shows is for an SUV... I don't want a big honkin Trailblazer or Cherokee.

(The best rate for a Wrangler going direct to rental companies is about $350/week +taxes & fees)...

Any suggestions on how to make sure the offer from PRICELINE is for a Wrangler?? Or is there a better way?

Just like with hotels, you need to be flexible in your plans to use the opaque services... if you only want a specfic vehicle you're likely better off booking direct, imo.
