pypeke Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Hi, I need help with ID of hotels and how to bid the best way.#1 - July 5-6, 2008 3 adults 2 beds ( I know I can't do this on priceline)San Juan zone ONLYJuly 5-6 can't be changedMy first choice would be Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel, but probably out of luck there! After that....I would like to start with Resort, then work my way down. Bid??? I have no idea where to begin. I will figure that out later. #2 July 13-14, 2008 3 adults 2 beds (same as above)San Juan zone ONLYJuly 13-14 can't be changedResorts, then 4 star, then work my way down. I know I can't pick my hotel by narrowing down choices like in Hotwire. I would rather not get El San Juan hotel.Any help would be appreciated. With Priceline, is it just guessing blindly? Hotwire seems much easier. Thanks
thereuare Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Please:-don't double post in each forum, just post in one forum and if the other service is ultimatley used we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board-only post one stay per threadWe'll use this thread for your first stay of 7/5... please start a NEW TOPIC for your second stay. The issue with using PRICELINE is that they only guarantee double occupancy, and you'll be three adults... HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy. You are correct that HOTWIRE is a little easier than PRICELINE, and you have a bit more control over where you'll end up since you can take a guess as to the hotel you'll likely be receiving, but PRICELINE is also usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, so that is the trade-off.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly (or ask any questions you have). If you decide to pursue the HOTWIRE route, please let us know which HOTWIRE offerings are of interest to you and list the information as a reply to this thread. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
pypeke Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 So you want both Hotwire and Priceline posts ONLY on priceline forum? I thought you wanted them separated since you have two separate areas under Puerto Rico. So sorry!Whose Star category do I go by? Do I look only at Priceline regular area hotel stars and compare them to Name Your Own hotel stars? Is that how I would know what the possibilities will be? Priceline: 7/5/08 - 7/6/08 San JuanResortBid?? I don't know where to start. Not too low or not too high. I do not know what else to add. I thought I had everything in my original post. Could you please let me know what I need to add and how I need to bid? I have been reading everything on the forums for several weeks before signing up and posting. I hope I did it right this time. One stay..one thread.... :) Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 So you want both Hotwire and Priceline posts ONLY on priceline forum? It doesn't matter whether posted in the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE forum, but all posts stay in the same thread... this makes ti easier to see what has been tried thru both services as well as see the 'saga' leading up to the ulitmately win. As this is currently in the PRICELINE section of the board, if you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board when we edit the topic title to reflect the hotel won.You can see hotels reported at each star level in the Priceline Hotel List (here is the equivalent Hotwire Hotel List). Neither our hotel list, nor the 'retail' version of PRICELINE, will give you a complete list of possibilities.Since you're looking to continue with PRICELINE, i assume you're willing to take the risk discussed about regarding your triple occupancy and PRICELINE only guaranteeing double occupancy? (it's possible you get a room with only one bed in it)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
