Hey all, this is my firtst post on the board. I've been reading a lot of them over the past month and just now decided to join in.

I was wondering if I could please get some help in booking a room in the NYC Theater District or Times Square for June 26 to the 27th. I'll go as high as $200, but would ideally like something along the lines of the $120 Ive seen people paying here.

Anything would help, and again, thanks!

Welcome to the board :)

Just to confirm - are you looking for one night only (June 26) or are you staying on the 27th, too?

Do you have to be in the Times Square area, or would a nearby area also be okay?

Based upon regular rates on this date, I would think $150 would be a reasonable starting bid in either the Midtown West or Times Square/Theatre District zones on Priceline.

We would greatly appreciate if you could use our link to PRICELINE (click the PRICELINE) to start your bidding.

Times Sq/Theater District would be ideal since I plan on going to a show, but anything nearby would be great if the price is right.

How high would you like to bid on just the Times Square zone (or would you like to start by bidding both the Times Square and MTW zone together) before adding other zones?

May stance has always been that midtown NYC is so compact that all the zones typically work well for the average visitor; so why not include all the acceptable zones from the start? For me, as an example, i'd rather spend $140 in the MTE zone and take a $10 cab ride (or even cheaper mass transit :) ) than spend $185 in Times Square.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

If getting a room for 1 night in MTE for $140 is possible, I'd have no problem hopping in a cab to get to Broadway. I went last month and spent a lil bit of cash for 2 nights by Columbus Circle, so I'm totally in for spending a lot less and being in the middle of the action. Times Square/Theater District/MTE/MTW area.

Also, as another option, I could do the night of the 27th instead of the 26th.

So do you want to go up to a certain limit for all zones and then continue on only for the Times Square zone... or simply go for th lease expensive 4* hotel in any of the acceptable zones?

I'll also throw out that i think you can get a hotel in Jersey City (NJ) with views of Manhattan and within steps of a PATH train (will have you Downtown in 8 minutes and midtown in 15-20minutes) for ~$100/nite. You do lose the "cit feel", but if you're looking to save money this is usually a good and viable alternative.

Let us know your thoughts on each of the above and we'll proceed accordingly.

I'd like to go for the least expensive 4* hotel in one of the acceptable zones (TS/TD/MTE/MTW). And yeah, as chep as it might be in Jersey City, I kinda want to keep the city feel and stay in the middle of the action in NYC. Thanks for the alternative though.

At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

I would try for 6/27 first as follows:

Select 4* TS/TD/MTE/MTW...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Repeat the above for the nite of 6/26.

Resuming for 6/27...

Select 4* TS/TD/MTE/MTW and re-bid zone5...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Repeat the above for the nite of 6/26.

Resuming for 6/27...

Select 4* TS/TD/MTE/MTW and re-bid zone6...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $195, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Repeat the above for the nite of 6/26.

If the above is rejected i would book 6 Columbus Circle for $199/nite thru Quickbook since you liked the area so much on your last visit (available for this rate on 6/27). You may want to even stop your bidding a little before the $195 shown if you think you'd prefer 6 Columbus Circle for $199 instead of the 4* that PRICELINE chooses for you if you're successful.

Any questions freel free to ask.

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or our Quickbook link if you go that route)

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
