scherazade Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Hiya,I have a trip planned for June 20 - June 22nd to NYC.Much obliged if someone would be able to help me confirm that the following are the Hotwire hotels for the listed amenities1. 4-star hotel in Midtown Central Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Accesstripadvisor rating 4/5Questions:a.Would this be the sofitel? I read elsewhere on the forum that Helmsley Park has been downgraded to 3.5* is this true? Would this be Helmsley Park?b. How much should I be paying for this hotel? Perhaps a ballpark?2. 4-star hotel in Soho Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Accessa. Is this the Soho Grand? b. How much should I be paying for this hotel? Thank you so much for your help!
thereuare Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The amenties above are very common for NYC (as you can see, both hotels have the same ones!).The 4* MTC is a match for both the Sofitel and the Helmsley Park Lane, but the Helmsley would be our best guess of the two. (can you find a link of where you saw a downgrade mentioned... was it refering to PRICELINE or HOTWIRE)The 4* is a match for the SoHo Grand, but as mentioned above, no guarantees as these amenities are very common for NYC.Not sure what you're asking when you say "how much should i pay" as HOTWIRE shows you the price... there is no bidding involved with PRICELINE.However, two other suggestions i'll offer, both less expensive than the above, are the Gild Hall or the 6 Columbus Circle, available for $180 and $199 respectively, thru Quickbook (Please use this link). Both get very good reviews (one and two) and might work well for your needs. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or our Quickbook link if you go that route)Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
scherazade Posted June 11, 2008 Author Report Posted June 11, 2008 Hi!Thank you so much for the prompt reply...and the offers..I shall check them out as well. Are they comparable 4 * hotels? This is the link to the downgrade I mentioned - It seems to refer to a hotwire dealhttp://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...rt=#entry169464If it is sofitel as opposed to HPL, I would be very tempted to accept the hotwire deal offered. Many thanks...and I will be sure to use your links!:)
thereuare Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 The Helmsley Park Lane has not been reported as a 3.5* property yet, and less than a month ago was reported as a 4* hotel: Hotwire Helmsley Park Lane... so while possible it's been downgraded, there have been no reports of this propert being downgraded as of yet.Even if not the Helmsley, i'm doubtful it's the Sofitel. :)Any thoughts on the Quickbook hotels? I think they're comparable 4* hotels... the Gild Hall is just finishing up a renovation and still does not have a restaurant on the premises (which when they do will be a Todd English establishment) so that may keep it from a 4* rating at the moment, but linens and such should be high end... the downside of the property for some is the Downtown location. The 6 Columbus Circle property was recently redone as well... the lowest priced room ($199) is small, but there is a higher priced room ($225 if i recall correctly from this morning) which is larger, and still cheaper than the above. Reviews of each were provided/linked above so you can read thru them to determine if either/both would work for your needs.Let us know if/how we can be of further help and what you ultimately do for this stay. Thanks for your user support page links (or the links in this thread) :)PS- not sure if you like the "linear mode" board view, but you can change this by clicking the OPTIONS button on the top right corner of the first post of this thread and change it to "standard" which is, i believe, how most people view the board (makes it easier to scroll thru the posts)... you can always swtich back to linear or outline if you'd like Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
