controlyar Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Just need some assistance with bidding and a question regarding re-bidding.If I search for Mississauga on Priceline, and I wish to stay at a 2.5 in Mississauga, are the only rebid zones Scarborough/Pickering and Toronto East?So would this mean I have 3 bids total to try and get a hotel here? Are there any chances that Priceline changes their hotel ratings, so there infact may be some hotels there?Or does Priceline guarantee that there are re-bid attempts b/c no hotels are located in those other two zones? Thanks.
thereuare Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 PRICELINE doesn't guarantee anything other than that you will receive a hotel within the boundaries of the zone(s) you select at the minimum star rating you select or better. You have your re-bid zones correct. Based upon the way PRICELINE operates, if a 3* hotel was offered in one of the zones above, there would be no way to select it since it that star rating woudln't be 'clickable' when the zone was checked, so while anything is possible, it doesn't seem likely. Every so often we have a user who ends up in a place they didn't intend, but it's always been because things do change, so you need to re-check your re-bidding zones before every bidding cycle to make sure that no hotels have been added/removed/upgraded/downgraded. Ultimately it's your decision and you need to be comfortable with the strategies you use.If you're comfortable with re-bidding, you can actually get more bids than just the three as follows:Mississauga (close browser and re-access PRICELINE)Mississauga and re-bid zone1 (close browser and re-access priceline)Mississauga and re-bid zone2 (close browser and re-access priceline)Mississauga and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2What are the dates of your stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. controlyar Posted June 10, 2008 Author Report Posted June 10, 2008 Thanks Admin.Date of stay is Friday June 13, 2008.When you mention to close browser and re-access PL, does this mean:sign in and if bid fails close and then re-open browser PRICELINE and sign in again? If not, what is the significance of just closing and re-opening?It appears as though 1 extra bid is gained using the method you described.I will definitely use the referral link you provided to win the hotel. Thanks for your assistance.
thereuare Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 When we say close the browser you just need to click the "X" on the top right corner of the browser and then launch a new browser and re-access PRICELINE again. The reason being is that PRICELINE doesn't enable you to UNcheck a zone, so by starting again you're able to make a second bid using only the zone you want and the second re-bid zone (ie- while not including re-bid zone1)... thereby enabling you to make yet another bid when combining re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2.Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
