Priceline Hotel: First timer. Need hotel in Long Beach

Hi, I'm new to Priceline and excited to try this whole process.

I will be needing 3 rooms in Long Beach, CA for Jan 24, 2009. One night before our cruise. I have tried bidding quite a few times, but not sure if requesting 3 rooms is lowering my chances. I first bid Long Beach Downtown for a 4*, then rebid Airport, then San Pedro, then Torrence/Carson. My starting price was $60.00 went up to $80, based on information I have learned so far. I'm afraid to try for a 3* even though it looks like it would be the Queen Mary or the Coast. I already have the Coast booked, but they are way too high for my parents. Which is why I'm doing Priceline.

Can I start in the $60 price range when I bid the next day? I have lots of time to keep trying, but I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I have been reading so much information, it's starting to all run together.

Do you have any suggestions? thanks in advance

I'm sure you're going thru the process just fine. We dont' see many 4* wins in this zone, but likewise, it's probably a bit early as well.

Yes, you can start at $60 the next time you bid, but i woudln't bid immediately tomorrow if you intend to keep your budget the same... you'll just get frustrated bidding so frequently this far ahead of your stay. I think once every 10-14 days should be fine at this juncture.

Would you be interested in something like the Holiday Inn Airport within your budget? Have you looked at the Long Beach map at our sister site Hotels By The Pier.com to see the hotels closest to the port?
