kegger Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 How can I get the best price for a Monday and Tuesday night stay at the Grand Central Hyatt. I've read on some other forums that bids of $150 a night are winning. How can I get the Hyatt at that price? Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 PRICELINE and HOTWIRE can potentially get you a hotel for a cheap price, but the catch of both discount services is that you are not picking the specific hotel you want. You cannot say, "I want to get the Grand Hyatt New York for x price" because the services simply don't work that way.Additionally, just because another user got X hotel for X price, doesn't mean you'll get the same price for a hotel on your dates as hotels obviously vary their rates due to supply and demand - you may wind up paying much more than another user if your dates are busier. If you are willing to accept a different hotel besides the Grand Hyatt, then we would be happy to help with Priceline and/or Hotwire strategies. You need to provide date, max budget and any other information. If we don't know dates, we can't help.If you only want the Grand Hyatt, then I would suggest booking conventionally via Expedia.com or Hotels.com or Orbitz.com.
kegger Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 We are flying in to NY on 7/21. Need a hotel for Monday 7/21 & Tuesday 7/22. Would like to have easy access to the subway. We won't have a car and will be taking the subway to Yankee Stadium for 3 games (Mon-Wed). I've never been to NY, but I know from reading serveral places that it can be expensive. Would like to pay around $300 a night, but if we could do better on PRICELINE, I'd jump at it. Want to be in the center of things as well, but don't know enough about the city to pick an area. Hope this info helps?? Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 If you search on HOTWIRE there is a 3.5* in the Midtown East area with the amenities: fitness, business, internet, restaurant for $229 (the price you see may differ slightly.) While not guaranteed, this would appear to be a possible match for the Doubletree Metropolitan. Keep in mind with HOTWIRE you do not find the hotel name until after purchase and the booking is not refundable. On Orbitz.com, the Fitzpatrick Grand Central, which is right by Grand Central, is $259 on Orbitz. If you use the coupon code, you get 10% off, which is essentially $25.90 off per night = $233.10 per night. The Orbitz reservation is refundable (although please read the fine print to confirm on your own), but you do pay a $25 penalty. In terms of Priceline, if you would like to be within the general area (may not be right nearby, but not a huge walk from it) of Grand Central, I'd recommend bidding $175 for a 4* in the Midtown East area. That may not be accepted, but it would be a reasonable start point based upon regular rates. Please click the site's links to Orbitz.com, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE to start your purchase - depending on which of these ideas you decide to go with.
