Looking for 1 night stay for family 4.

Since it's August, most important is working AC in the room, second is price. French Quarter or downtown area. We've been to NO (B4 kids) before so really don't have to stay in FQ.

4.5*, Downtown, $79, Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, Pool, Business Center.

Trip Advisor rating 4.5/5, 400+reviews, last reviewed June.

According to the New Orleans list , thinking this is Le Pavillion?

I also double checked on trip advisor and there were 382 reviews, the last of which was posted June 1st, rating 4.5/5.

4*, Downtown $69, Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, Pool, Business Center.

Trip Advisor rating 4/5, 80+reviews, last reviewed May 2008

Referring to the list, Sheraton or Inter Continental?

Thinking this is the IC, since on tripadvisor - there are 85 reviews and last one posted was on May 29, 4/5 rating.

3*, French Quarter, $55, Amenities: High speed internet

There's nothing in the hotel list with only high speed internet. Of those with 3* and high speed internet as an amenity in addition to others, there are 2 Holiday Inns and Bourbon Orleans in the FQ. Unidentified yet? I'm afraid this might be a boutique hotel and the possibility of working AC could be in question - I would never hear the end of it. Especially, after a long drive from Chicagoland.

Thoughts? I'm thinking one of the first two hotels, but the price on the 3* is so tempting just for a 1 night stay. Used the BetterChecker link in addition to the HOTWIRE link.

Agree with your best guesses of the Le Pavillion and Inter-Continental.

As far as the 3*, it is not yet identified, and i'm guessing it's a hotel not yet reported other than an existing 3* hotel with fewer amenities than previously reported (likely a smaller, independent property, with limited services). The difference is only ~$20 (depending if you go for the 4* or 4.5*) and i think going with the higher star rated hotels would be a good 'investment'.

Thanks for the 2nd opinion.

Question before booking this today. There are 4 of us. When I use the HOTWIRE link, Hotwire opens up in a new browser - I have to click on the 'hotels' tab to change occupancy to 4 (adding my 2 kids) and then click the hotel search again. You still get credit if I do this, right? If not, I don't know how to do a search for 4 starting from your site. This is what I had to do for my Pensacola beach booking.

Thanks for asking... yes, we will still get credit.

This HOTWIRE link will save you one step as it takes you directly to the page where you can change your search parameters to include your children.

4* InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, 444 St. Charles Avenue

Downtown New Orleans

$69 + $17.49(taxes/frees) = $86.49

Aug 3 - 4, 2008, one night stay

Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

Thanks for the help. I agree it is a wise 'investment' for the 4*. It's only about 4-5 blocks from the French Quarter, not too bad of a walk. Can't wait for some DELICIOUS beignets at Cafe DuMonde and crawfish and a Hurricane to wash it down :) and a little shopping on Royal St. Please change the heading to reflect the reservation.

Funny thing - the TripAdvisor ratings were missing at Hotwire. I checked signed in and signed out and the TA ratings were not present both times. Hmmmm?

Used the HOTWIRE link above for my purchase.

Was called here at home by hotwire.com and the message on our answering machine was that the Intercontinental had a fire and they were relocating their guests. They informed us we will be staying at the Hilton, 333 St. Charles (a little closer to the FQ). I guess they have to move you to an equivalent star rated hotel 4* to 4*. Good. Otherwise, I would be looking for some type of compensation :)

Once again kudos to HOTWIRE customer service for being proactive... i'm sure there are others who booked thur other sources (as well as the hotel's own website) who won't find out about the hotel fire and relocation until they show up at the hotel and attempt to check-in.
