Hi, I'm a first time better bidding user--

I'll be visiting NY for one night and need some help on where to stay. I'm looking to spend a max of $200, although the cheaper the better as long as the place is still nice. Not exactly sure what area I would like to stay in as I've never been there, but it seems Midtown and Central Park are the places to be. There will be two adults, but we'll only need one bed.

Thanks for the help!

While i'm not sure if it would be consdiered a 4* hotel, the Desmond Tutu Center has been getter great reviews and is available for $175/nite for your date above thru Quickbook (please use this link if you go this route) The hotel is a little 'out of the way' in that it's about a 10 minute walk to the subway, so if this is acceptable then you coudl reserve this (it's cancellable) and then try to beat the deal thru PRICELINE while also lowering your maximum bid from $200 (down to ~$170 or so)

Let us know if you reserve this and would like to lower your maximum bid OR if the above isn't acceptable and you'd prefer to continue to try up to $200... we'll suggesst a biddings strategy for whichever you prefer.

i actually read a couple other posts where people got the new york hilton for $120 for sat/sun in mid june- not sure if you think that's possible to try, but if so i'd like to give that a shot to see what we could work out.

soo... i guess let's try option two.

I'm not sure we're on the same page...

I think trying PRICELINE makes sense, but the question is do you want to try up to $200/nite? The point is that if the Desmond Tutu is acceptable, there would be no point in bidding higher than ~$175 since there is an acceptable alternative at that price.

Let us know how high you'd like to bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.
