rrzep1169 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Dear Members,I'm coming to Canada from Europe with a friend and will be staying in Vancouver September 19-21 as well as Toronto September 24-28. I have tried to bid for the last 5 days with different combinations and by re-bidding and have been unsuccessful. An optimum bid would be in the downtown area in both Vancouver and Toronto in a 4 star hotel for under $100 per night, however I'm willing to settle for around $130. My friends use this site as well as PRICELINE religiously and have landed great bids in Toronto (Sheraton Center, Delta Chelsea) for under $80. Any tips on what I can do? PLEASE HELP:((Cheers,Rad

rrzep1169 Posted June 6, 2008 Author Report Posted June 6, 2008 Thanks in advance for your help. In Vancouver I have been bidding for a 4* in the downtown area. I started off with $75 in downtown and was rejected. Bid $80 and re-zoned with downtown and added zone 3. Rejected... Closed browserBid $85 and added zone 1...RejectedBid $90 and added zone 4...Rejected...Closed browser.Bid $95 and added zone 5...Rejected.Bid $100 and added zone 3 and 1... RejectedI'm up to $125 a night and still nothing. Getting kinda worried as the bid range is going up fast... My last bid was around 10 hours ago.
thereuare Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Vancouver gets busy during the summer months... the weather is nice and cruiseship passengers descend upon the city and it can often take more than $130. (fortunately, usually not much more than that though)Do you have a back-up reservation anywhere? If you're not successful up to your current limit of $130, what would will you do for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Woofer Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 The Residence Inn is a regular haunt of mine--I think you will be happy with it. One tip: be sure to ask for a street-side room (west side of the hotel). The alley-side rooms can be noisy at times (they are not all noisy, but some are--due to a bar that exits onto the alley, and during the day time a construction site right behind--so why risk it?). Plus, from about the 8th floor up on the street side, one can usually get a glimpse of English Bay.
