lovefletch Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Hi all, first off I have some questions before I even request help in bidding.I need to get travel insurance for the trip. I am going to Vegas with my two sisters and we need something that could potentially be changed. We are sure on our dates, but would like the extra security in case something happens. Does Priceline offer that? Or, would independent travel insurance do? We were going to get some sort of travel insurance, I'm just not sure how it works with priceline bidding. That said, we want to stay at the Hotel at Mandalay Bay, from 7/17-7/21The cheapest i have found so far for that period is $774. This is in a pkg deal, so essentially, that's what the hotel works out to after airfare was deducted.I saw that Mandalay was the only 5* listed, so is that pretty much guaranteed? So far, our avg is 193.50 a night after tax. Is it reasonable that any better be done?
thereuare Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 PRICELINE offers trip insurance (for the "Name Your Own Price" hotel rooms) at $5/nite... but like most insurance, only covers certain things (usually sickness) so you'll need to read the terms of the policy to see if it will cover the cndition you think may be your potential claim(s).I saw that Mandalay was the only 5* listed, so is that pretty much guaranteed? No, see the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List. The Venetian and Palazzo were recently the only 5* properties reported in the North Strip zone but recently somebody reported the Trump International Las Vegas and you too could be the first to report a new hotel in this zone.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. If you decide to book direct for the time being, please use our link to Mandalay Bay (also found in our support page) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lovefletch Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Hi, thanks for the quick response. The only 5* listed in the Strip South zone is the Hotel. That would lead me to believe that if I did win, that would be the one, right?I wouldn't even bid for other areas because we are positive that the only hotel we would stay in. Every room has a lot of space, 2 baths, and the pool area is great. So, the only way I would bid is if we were 95% sure that it would be that hotel. :)
thereuare Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 No, see the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List. This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it is always a good idea to look at the Priceline map before purchasing. DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 24 hour window (CLICK HERE for information on how to add cities in order to bid again). In light of the above, you MAY get a hotel that is NOT on this list, or get a hotel on this list but at a star level you didn't expect (if the star rating has changed).Lastly, this board (and its members) are here to assist you, if you have a question or are unsure of something, please ask before purchasing (since Priceline stipulates NO cancellations/refunds)! However, by using this board you agree that you do so at your own risk! (in other words, NO WHINING allowed!!)Let us know how you'd like to proceed. If you choose to book direct, please use our Mandalay Bay link.Let us know what you decide. lovefletch Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Hey, I went ahead and booked the package deal with USAirways. We decided we really wanted that specific hotel, so the savings didn't outweight the potential for another hotel. I will definitely try PRICELINE for Vegas another time. I've used priceline and your links when bidding before and have always told people to check here first. Thanks for your help, sorry it didn't amount to a sale! :)
