Hello, I'm hoping to get some help with my trip planning and bidding

Dates: July 18 - July 21

Budget: <$80/nite

Number of people: 2

Star preference >3*

Location preference: On or near the strip

I'm not sure if my price expectation is realistic. I would just like to stay at a nice/decent hotel relatively near or on the strip at a good price. Any suggestions or advice?? Is 3* going too low? Or would Priceline yield better results?

Here is the issue:

PRICELINE's NORTH Strip zone has some 3* hotels which are quite a bit north (Circus Circus/Stratosphere area) which most don't consider to be centrally located as the 'main' part of the strip. You could bid the South Strip zone at the 3* level, but the quality of hotels is pretty wide at the 3* level (Tropicana at the low end of the 3* spectrum... Excalibur at the high end of the 3* spectrum).

If you can stretch you budget just a little bit (say $100/nite?) i think you can 'safely' bid both the North and South zones on PRICELINE, significantly increase the quality level of your hotel, and end up in an area which you're happy with (something like the Westin would be a strong possibility, which is located in the South Strip zone although sligthly off-strip). This is the route i would recommend taking, even if you can't increase your budget i would first try for a 4* hotel, but if you let us know your maximum bid (if you're able to increase your budget at all) we'll suggest a strategy to follow if this is the route you'd like to take.

If not, you could book something like the Imperial Palace for about $80/nite, within your budget and star rating with a good strip location... but i think up to another $20 per nite would be a good 'investment' in terms of comfort.
