Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (Downtown-SoHo-Financial) Tribeca Grand Hotel

Thanks so much for this forum - this was my first experience with PRICELINE and reading your messages helped me prepare for the bidding process. I think this is a pretty good rate at this hotel, including one weekday night (Thursday). I wanted to stay at a 4* in the SoHo/Tribeca area, so I selected the Downtown area. This was a bit of a risk, since I didn't want to get the Millenium Hilton in the Financial District, but was willing to accept it if necessary.

Booked this last Friday, May 30. Started out at $165, then upped by $10 for each re-bid until $195 was accepted (+$35.55 taxes/night). I've visited NYC so many times that staying in this particular area was more important than staying in another area for a slightly lower price (and I did NOT want Times Square/Midtown).

I just noticed the 'Extend your stay' feature in my confirmation, and read a post on this topic on the board. Since $195 is significantly lower than the cheapest discounted 'Grand Guest' weekday rate of $351 on the hotel web site (you just have to register for it), I'm considering adding on a day or two. Any idea if adding on before (Tues/Wed) or after (Mon/Tues) usually yields better results? Both options are early in the week, when prices are typically highest, so probably not, but just checking. And does anyone have any negative experiences using this feature? I saw the comments about checking out at 11 a.m. and then re-checking in at 4 p.m., but that seems like an isolated incident.

Lastly, I immediately received the PRICELINE confirmation Friday afternoon, but the charge hasn't showed up on my credit card yet - does this typically take a few days?

Not sure of the credit card not showing up, that could be bank specific, but as long as you have the PRICELINE confirmation page you should be fine. The hotel will have your reservation now, so you could call them and just confirm that the booking info made it there ok.

Note that the Extend Your Stay option, even when offered, doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to get the same hotel at the same price. If you try it, you'll either be accepted, rejected, or offered the same hotel for a higher rate... just didn't want to see you change all your plans and then find out the extend your stay option failed.
