mdtdan Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Great networking people! I am new to this and am trying to book the Radisson Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. I am open to other resorts which can be verified as very close to the Radisson. Does anyone have the Radisson identified on hotwire or priceline? The dates I intend to be there are, Sept 28 - Oct 2. any suggestions are welcomed, and I will be sure to report my results.Thank You,mdtdan
thereuare Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you look in the second post of HOTWIRE HOTELS ARIZONA (under Phoenix) you'll see what is believed to be associated with the Radisson. The Radisson appears to be located in the North Scottsdale zone on Hotwire's map while Priceline only has one larger 'Scottsdale' zone. How close to you need to be to this property? Could you accept any hotel in the North Scottsdale zone... how about the larger Priceline zone? bbbb Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 The Plaza resort is right across the street and you could walk to the Radisson from it.The Marriott Mountain Shadows is about 5-10 min away and anything in DT scottsdale is 5-10 min away. The Westin Kierland resort is 10-15 min away and would be my choice if I could get it.Good luck
mdtdan Posted June 21, 2004 Author Report Posted June 21, 2004 I see by the link included above that the Radisson Resort and Spa is rated 4 stars. When I searched airfare and resort packages the Radisson Resort and Spa is also rated 4 stars. When searching Hotwire for hotel alone the only 4 star is not lised as a resort or spa and has different amenities listed. I believe the Radisson is in North Scottsdale but am wondering if it's really Scottsdale. Is the Westin Kierland as spectacular as the picture and feedback represent?Any help fine tuning the search, or verifying the Raddison as the 4 star listed in the hotel search is greatly appreciated. The 4 star listed is $100 a night. The lowest rate I have found through any outside searches has been $139 per night. How do I identify the Plaza Resort across the street?I would prefer to be within walking distance as I may fly in for the seminar and would prefer to avoid a rental car expense. If I happen to drive, location wont be much of an issue. Thanks for the assistance!
thereuare Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Priceline and Hotiwre are separate companies and therefore use different rating systems and criteria (for instance, Hotwire has hotels rated 3.5* and 4.5* while Priceline doesn't use these ratings at all).As well, there are likely other 4* hotels in the area besides the Radisson, so if that's what you're looking for you should try to match all the amenities exactly. I have heard great things about the Kierland but i'll leave more specific details to the board locals. bbbb Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I am going to be staying at the Westin Kierland on July 17th and will report back.
mdtdan Posted September 17, 2004 Author Report Posted September 17, 2004 After doing my research and checking the pinned posts I took a chance on Priceline Resorts for scottsdale. I bid $59 hoping for the Radisson or the Plaza across the street. The bid was accepted at the Plaza. The conference rate at the Radisson Was $139 plus taxes. My total savings for three nights is $240 for three nights. Depending on shuttle costs I wont need to rent a car for an even greater savings.Priceline Category, ResortSept 29 - Oct 2Bid $59, AcceptedResort, The Scottsdale Plaza Resort.Rental cars are starting at $21 on priceline, but watch out for the taxes. One $25 car for four days has $60 in taxes added. Ouch! Just thought I would share this. Makes paying for a shuttle much cheaper. Thanks for the great and accurate suggestions!
thereuare Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Congratulations on your win!!Great savings... less than half price!Hope the conference is a productive one for you. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bbbb Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 You will be much better off at the plaza resort then you would have been if you won the radisson. The Radisson will be closing soon as they are going to be building condos on the land where it sits.If you get an offer to upgrade to a suite they are very nice.I stayed in a patio suite that was super nice.
