Now the back story. I'm attending a conference 6/26-6/30 (LIBRARIANS ROCK!!) at the convention center and then taking vacation 6/30-7/4. I was hoping to get into one of the 41 designated conference hotels and limiting to 3* Disneyland area hotels was (I thought) a reasonable way to assure this (the conference always provides free shuttles between the hotels and the convention center so I wouldn't have to rely on hotel shuttle or ART). Have unsuccesfully tried for a few days to get the entire stay (6/26-7/4) for anything up to $61 but got nothing meeting my limit. Decided today to bid separately for the conference time and vacation (I'll have a car during vacation so specific location less important 6/30-7/4). Because the conference is over a weekend, prices tend to be higher, so I was willing to bid a little higher for the conference time.

Unsuccesful bids today:

3* Started with $45. With 4 rebids ended up at $61. No counteroffers.

6/30-7/4

3* Started with $45. With 4 rebids ended up at $55. No counteroffers.

Succesfully bid for Doubletree Orange County. SUCCESS! The Doubletree is listed as one of the conference hotels, but when I go to their website, I realize there are TWO Doubletrees in Anaheim and Orange County is not the conference hotel (instead, it's the Doubletree Anaheim Convention Center). GRRRR! 2 1/2 miles away from the convention center! PL is always a risk and this is one that didn't pan out as I expected. Still a good price for a good hotel though.

Congratulations(??) on your win... glad to see you got a great rate at this property, but sorry to see it wasn't one of the offical conference hotels and now you'll need to find 'outside' transportation to the conference.

If you have a similar situation in the future HOTWIRE may be a better option since you can often take an educated guess as to the property beforehand, and therefore hopefully 'see' if it's one of the offical conference sponsoring hotels.

If I recall correctly when we stayed at the Double Tree OC, the same shuttle that took us to Disneyland also continued on to the convention center. Worth a call.
