trigyyz Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 ty sir! We're looking to spend no more than $120/night -- 4 or 5 star on the strip.which hotels do you think fall in this category? That Planet Hollywood price of $59 was a great deal! Don't you think ?
thereuare Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Your budget is not likely going to be enough for a 5 star hotel. (it may be if you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, saving money on the lower priced nites and applying that savings to the other nites to go over your $120 limit for the additional nites)If you're looking for a 4*, HOTWIRE has a property on the South Strip for $89/nite which is a match for the MGM Grand so that would be our best guess (Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa). You could take that HOTWIRE offer try to use PRICELINE to bid for a hotel... but keep in mind there is no way to target a specific property, and you also then may receive a property slightly off the strip (but still within the boundaries of the zone... the Westin as an example)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. trigyyz Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 ty-- you are a great help!do you think that Planet Hollywood deal ($59/nite at PL) will still work?and if so, what are the parameters?
thereuare Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Rates are date specific, so you can't simply look at an accepted bid and assume that you'll be successful at the same hotel for that same price. If you do you're setting yourself up for disappointment. If you're familiar with Vegas you'll know that that rates on the weekends are typically 2x-3x higher than midweek... note that the $59 Priceline Planet Hollywood Win you're referencing was for midweek dates, while your stay above includes the weekends (which is where SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID comes into play, as referenced above)Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. trigyyz Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 so, theres a chance I could get a 5* place during the week for about he same price as a 4* place on the weekend?I don't mind splitting my bids or even changing hotels -- that may be fun!My dates are set in stone -- what next ?TY !!
HighRoller Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 IMHO, the chances of getting a 5* for $120 anytime is very little. You're only real hope would be the Trump International, as it seems they are trying to fill rooms to get things rolling, but I doubt they are going to discount their product that much.$135-$140 is probably as low as you are going to get a 5* for, and that would most certainly be mid-week.You might have an outside chance of getting Treasure Island as a 4* Strip North hotel for $120. Planet Hollywood and the MGM Grand would be great 4* Strip South hotels, but I would be scared to put a 4* bid in that zone at all for fear that I would end up with the Westin, which has been coming up an awful lot lately.
trigyyz Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 ty sir!I live in Rock Hill. :)so what would you suggest I do ?
HighRoller Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Rock Hill, right down the street!Well... If you want to see if you can get a 5* at $120, then I would give it a shot. You probably don't need to worry about permutations and all of that because I doubt there is a strong possibility of it getting lower than $120. Try this out and see if you have any luck.Use the PRICELINE link on this site:5* - North Strip $1105* - North and South Strip $1155* - North Strip, South Strip, and Nellis $120If you don't get any bites, then you can look at your 4* options. If you are OK with the Westin or the Luxor then you can probably get a great deal in the 4* South Strip. Otherwise, Hotwire may be the way to go.
trigyyz Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 I'll give it a try.Why do some not like the Westin?
thereuare Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Some don't like the Westin because it's not located directly on the strip, and it' "just a hotel" where as most of the other 4* properties on the strip are "destinations" with themes, attractions, and things to see and do at the property... although i'll add that some people do like the Westin and have no problem staying there. I don't think the hotel is "bad", it's just doesn't represent the value or 'cache' the other properties on the strip offer (that's my take on it at least)so, theres a chance I could get a 5* place during the week for about he same price as a 4* place on the weekend? What i was implying was a scenario where you won a hotel for the weekend at $100... then that woudl give you an extra $20/nite to increase your budget for the other nites of your stay (over the $120 maximum) in an attempt to get a 5* hotel... but in looking at availability i think it's going to be tough to do this and still land within your budget. You could try to do this, SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and try for two different 4* hotel properties (although splitting is usually only done to save money since it does 'disrupt' your stay somewhat), or choose the HOTWIRE offer... or continue to search for a better deal.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
