nash Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I'm planning a trip for 5 consecutive nights (6/5-6/10/08) to Midtown NYC. I'd rather not split the bids up unless I'm sure I can stay at the same hotel.I'm looking in the MTE, MTW, Times Square, CPS, MSG, Downtown-Soho areas. Looking at hotels 3* and above.I've bid (using Priceline) up to $180 today and yesterday with no luck, but I decided that I can max at $200.My backup is at Sohotel (www.thesohotel.com) for an average of $199 a night.Any advice or tips? :)
nash Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Any help? Is my max bid of $200 too low? I've tried it for about a week in a row but no luck.
AaronJB Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I think $200-225 is probably going to be a more realistic price for a 4*, and given the $350-400+ price tags on 4*'s for your dates, going up to $225 may be required for a 4*.Additionally, while it's understandable that you don't want to switch hotels, splitting your stay (3 at one, 2 at another or vice versa) *may* offer greater chance of success.
AaronJB Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Additionally, Orbitz has a sale on the Paramount hotel for $230 for your dates. Use the coupon code SUMMERFAM for an additional 10% off.The coupon code will take 115.18 off the final total. Split that number across 5 days and you're looking at about $23 and change off per night.$230-23 = $207.The Paramount does have small rooms, but for $8 more than your reservation at the Sohotel, you are in a far better location. If you do decide to take this offer, please use the site's link to Orbitz.com (click the Orbitz.)
