ak1979 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Hi,I need help identifying a 3-star hotel in the Quincy Market ~ Financial District.Dates: June 10-13Amenities: boutique, non-smoking, fitness, restaurant, high speed internet accessThe price quoted is $216 per night which is the lowest rate for a 3 star with the areas also including Boston Common and Back Bay. Thanks!
ak1979 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 Also, i have been reviewing other hotel prices in Boston and mine seems really high for these dates. I am a little surprised since i thought booking for multiple nights would lower the price. Does anyone have insight as to why the prices are so high? Dates 6/10-6/13.
thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates don't necessarily go down for a longer stay, rather, they're date specfiic based upon supply and demand. Hotels constantly evaluate their occupancy levels and adjust rates accordingly... if occupancy is high and only a few rooms left then they will raise rates... of occupancy is low and they haven't sold as many rooms for a given date that they have anticipated, then they will lower rates.I'm not sure of the ID of the hotel above as it has not yet been identified. It does have a 4.0 out of 5.0 user review from TripAdvisor, so that's some reasonable assurance that the hotel is 'good' and you're not likely getting a 'bad' property... but how good of a value the $216/nite represents is undetermined. If you do go for the above please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin any purchases you make.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help.EDIT to ADD: check out GTA Hotels (please use this link) as there are some 4* rated hotels priced similar to the above ($235-$245/nite)... and you'll know exactly what property you're receiving. ak1979 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 Thanks for the info. I will let you know if i decided to pursue the "unknown" hotel and which one it turns out to be. I did a little research using the information provided in the decription and searched on trip advisor for a hotel rated 4 out of 5 with 140+ reviews that would be considered a boutique and couldnt find any that match (within the Financial District also). I am a little concerned about a 3* hotel since that includes some properties i dont think are very good. I also looked at GTA Hotels (using your link) and couldnt find any 4* in that range within the core area of Boston. The least expensive I found was the Boston Park Plaza at $279 per night. Hotwire has it for $259. Am i searching wrong?Do you think i can get a better deal using priceline over hotwire? I am leaning towards that. I have used priceline many times so i am familiar with the process.
thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Not sure how the location of any of these work for your needs, but thru GTA Hotels i saw:Sheraton Boston $234/niteOnyx $242/niteLangham $265/nitePark Plaza $233/niteHotel Marlowe (Cambridge) $235/niteAll above thru GTA Hotels and select "Twin Room Sleeps 2" Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ak1979 Posted June 1, 2008 Author Report Posted June 1, 2008 I used PRICELINE (your link) and won the Marriott Long Wharf for $155 per night. I am pretty happy with that. The location might be a little out of the way but at least it will be a very nice hotel. I will post my win on the priceline forum also. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Can you confirm that this property is 3 star rated by PRICELINE and in the (Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial District) zone?
