initech Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Hi everyone,Thanks for the site ThereUAre. I am going to be in New York 04/Sep/08 to 09/Sep/08 and I would really like to stay in the following areas, double occupancy.4*+ MTE (very strong preference)4* MTW4* UM-CPS4* TS-TDI would be prepared to bid up to $180 for the room (less is better). Am I being realistic?I would really rather not change hotels during my stay.I have a cancellable hotel booked so that part is covered. I probably will only be able to submit and manage bids at the weekends. Thanks in advance, initech
thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Currently it doesn't look as if $180 will be enough for a 4* hotel for these date. To give it a try anyway, are you willing to pay more to stay in the MTE zone vs. the others? Would you want to bid up to your limit there first before trying for the other zones?Where, and how much, is your back-up reservation? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. initech Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 My backup is 3* in MTE (at the very south of that zone). It is $220 per night. I suppose I would be prepared to increase my bid to match $220 for a better or better located hotel. I was hoping to shave a few $s off the total price too. :) I am not willing to pay more to stay in MTE but I am willing to give it every chance of being my winning location; and then move on to other locations. Thanks, initech
thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 What is the (name of the) back-up hotel? To clarify regarding the MTE zone, i'm not asking if you are willing to pay more than $180 to be in that zone, but rather if you're willing to pay more to be in that zone than any of the other acceptable zones. For example, if there was a hotel in the MTE zone for $180 and a hotel in the MTW zone for $150... which would you prefer? (just want to make sure we're on the same page so that you have the greatest chance to get what you're looking for) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
initech Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 The other hotel is the Park South Hotel, East 28th Street. In terms of preferences. 1. I would rather pay $180 and be a 4* in MTE. 2. Any hotel 4* hotel in MTW, UM-CPS, TS-TDThanks, initech

initech Posted June 6, 2008 Author Report Posted June 6, 2008 Just thought I should give you some feedback. I have been bidding off and on for the past while and have reached $206 for MTE 4/9/08 - 9/9/08 without success yet. I have plenty of time, a decent back-up hotel (I think) and so I am prepared to continue the waiting game. I'll let you know, if and when I bag a winner. In the meantime I have had a read of the things to do in NY thread on these boards and found it very interesting.
