goingtochicago
We are planning our first trip to Chicago for July and I would like to know if anyone might have an idea of what hotel this Hotwire deal may be...Thanks a lot for your help! We're really looking forward to discovering the windy city! Here are the details for that Hotwire offer: 4* hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - StreetervilleCustomer favourite, lowest price guaranteed, best value$119 per nightHotel Amenities Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessCustomer ReviewsTraveler Rating(4.5 out of 5)Based on:120+ customer reviewsLast Reviewed:May 2008 Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! The above matches the Hard Rock, Hyatt, and Westin River North, so either of these would be our best guess. Unfortunately HOTWIRE doesn't give any additional clues as to which one this is, but based upon recent trends i'd guess the Hyatt Regency, but that's just a guess and if you purchase the above i'd be prepared for any of the aboev (or some other, yet unreproted, property)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. goingtochicago
Thanks for the info! Would you recommend staying at either of these three hotels, no matter which one it ends up being? Link to comment
thereuare
May be a moot point now as this property is currently showing for $185/nite on my recent HOTWIRE search. If you search HOTWIRE are you still seeing the $119/nite rate? (or anything close to that)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. goingtochicago
Still looking for decently-priced accommodations in Chicago - can anyone help me figure this one out? AaronJB
Would likely be the Allerton, which I believe is undergoing some renovation. So-so hotel, great location. We would greatly appreciate if you could use the site's HOTWIRE link (click HOTWIRE) to head to HOTWIRE if you do decide to book this trip. Link to comment
goingtochicago
If you search HOTWIRE are you still seeing the $119/nite rate? (or anything close to that)No, I don't see that rate :) I'm now looking into a 3.5-star hotel for $119 (in a new topic)... Link to comment
AaronJB
Given the retail prices I'm seeing for hotels for these dates, I'd rather recommend trying an $85 bid for a 4* in the River North/NMA area on Priceline. No guarantee what you'll get via Priceline, but I think an $85 bid for a 4* in the RN/NMA area could possibly be accepted. Link to comment
AaronJB
There's also the Whitehall for $117 via Orbitz.com and use the coupon code SUMMERFAM for 10% off. I'd rather recommend trying Priceline first than going for the Whitehall or Allerton, but just throwing out different options to consider. Link to comment
goingtochicago
You guys are great! I'll try priceline tonight and report back :)Thanks again! Link to comment
goingtochicago
I just tried PRICELINE (using the link from your site) - $85 in the recommended area, 4-star hotel, to no avail. Added the Loop area, same star rating, and it didn't work either. I might try the Hotwire $129 4-star Loop hotel - any idea what this might be? Link to comment
thereuare
What are the amenities associated with the 4* Loop hotel that HOTWIRE is offering? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
AaronJB
I'd *first* try a 4* on PRICELINE in the River North/North Michigan Ave. area tomorrow for $95 - or $100 if you don't mind adding $5 to increase your chances.I would *definitely* try that first, then if that doesn't work, then you can consider the 4* Loop, which would likely be the Palmer House. goingtochicago
You were right! I got a room for $95/night at the Palmer House Hilton for the above dates through PRICELINE (using your link). Thanks a lot for your help! You guys are amazing! Now to planning our time in Chicago!(btw, I called the Palmer House last night to enquire about their rates: Sun: $233, Mon-Wed: $256. Not bad a deal, I would say :) ) Link to comment
AaronJB
Excellent deal, and the Palmer House Hilton is a very good location in the center of the Loop area, nearby three different CTA stations. The hotel is also very historic, with one of the more grand, beautiful hotel lobbies you're going to find in the US. If you are looking for a quick breakfast/lunch/dinner, there is a Corner Bakery (see cornerbakery.com for menu/details) on Monroe/Wabash, which is essentially the NE corner of the square block that the Palmer House hotel takes up. It's in the structure where the hotel is - just head out the front door on Monroe and walk 1/2 block E.You're also a very short walk from Millennium Park and the Art Institute. Link to comment
