thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 A lot of the above is not correct... are you making sure that you have only one zone selected eaach time you look below to see the highest star rating available? taal Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 i was looking at the categories with listed hotels (not name own price)so the correct ones i believe now are as follows:Boston Waterfront - Convention Center 4*, 3*Brighton - Brookline 2 1/2* 2*1*Cambridge 4*, 3* 2 1/2*, 2*Copley Square - Theatre District 4* to 1*Medford - Somerville 2 1/2* 2* 1*Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial District 4* 3* 2*Revere - Logan Airport 4* to 1*South Boston 2 1/2* to 1*so the three zones are brighton, medford and south boston for free rebids if i am reading this correcti noticed on another thread that 4* copley at the westin was successfully bid for 110 for 6/19 and 6/20am wondering if better strategy is to bid these two days since the three days together has been not successful (tried biddiing twice over last 2 days)of course, used the link through this websitethanks!
thereuare Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Congratulations... you have your re-bid zones correct :) (but don't forget to always doublecheck them before each bidding cycle to make sure nothing has changed since the last time you checked)As far as SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, how much would you need to save to make splitting the bid, and having to change hotels, worthwhile? Assuming you could be successful at $110/nite or less (which i would say your chances are 'good' but far from a certainty), would it be worth the $15+/nite savings (given that you've already been turned down at $125/nite) to change hotels?Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Thanks for starting your bids with our PRICELINE link :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
taal Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 Thank you for your advice. Still no luck, and as this is third day in row I have struck out (although second day using your strategy), I am thinking of splitting it (ie just 6/19 and 6/20). I recognize it is suboptimal with switching hotels but wondering if 6/18 may be what's stopping me from getting a successful bid (given no wins on your calendar of wins for that day).Would appreciate any suggestions if I should bid differently. Also- I am amenable to Faneuil Hall area (4*) if worst case scenario. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 If you want to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID (before including the Faneuil Hall zone) i think you can follow the previous strategy again for the dates 6/19-6/21:Select 4* Copley...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline.Select 4* Copley and re-bid zone2...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline.Select 4* Copley and re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline.Select 4* Copley and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
