chasman
I thought I would selfishly piggy-back on this thread. ;-)Attending a wedding on Sep 18, so need a hotel room for the 17th and 18th as close to this place as possible - Queen's Landing Inn155 Byron StreetNiagara-on-the-Lake, OntarioCanada L0S 1J0Telephone: (905) 468-2195 Never been to Niagara-on-the-Lake so any suggestions / recommendations welcomed. Ideally, I would like to be able to walk (read stumble) home, but a 15 min drive away for a place in the $50 range would work too. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Chasman, I moved your post to it's own thread because it's for a different set of dates than the other post (and maybe a different zone as well).I searched for the city of Niagara, Ontario on Priceline and it came back stating that they didn't have any hotels in that city but suggested 2 other 'nearby' cities... each over 25 miles away (if i recall correctly).Looking at a map i'm not quite sure how close this is to the Niagara Falls zones on either Priceline or Hotwire. Double check the areas... if you can find a zone that is suitable than we'll be happy to suggest a bidding strategy, but i'm not really sure which zone is closest to the address you provided. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
edyvr
I was there last year and from my memory, Niagara on the Lakes is about a 20 min drive from the Niagara Fall hotels. So you should be ok to bid the Niagara Falls hotels then. Link to comment
chasman
thanks for the help. the wedding is actually in the town of "niagara-on-the-lake" which is different than "niagara falls". however, in another thread i read - "In the past, I have been able to win the 2.5* Four Points by Sheraton St Catharines for around $38 even when Niagara rates were high "i will give this a shot. i believe st catherine's is only a 25 min drive from niagara on the lake. i just bid $35 and got rejected. will keep bumping it up by $5 every 72 hours. as i am travelling alone so $160 CAD per night for 2 nights for a little B&B is steep. i guess they have to make their money in the summer. only down side to being in st. catherine's is limiting my libation intake in the evening. oh well. thesqueegeekid
You can also consider the 2* Confort Inn in the same zone .... it's nothing special ... just cheap, should be available in the $20's ... I think I saw it once posted for the low $20's and I won it once myself for $25. Choice hotels in Canada seems to only give smoking rooms to PL guests ... since you are on your own, you may not mind. Also, you can use the Niagara Falls zone as a free rebid because their weekend rates are much higher than St Catharines ... and if for the small chance you win, even better for you ... the distance to N-on-the-Lake is still relatively close. twg
There are 2 priceline zones for niagara falls:Niagara Fallsand St. Catharines - ThoroldThe latter is actually quite close to your destination... the prior is about 15-20min highway drive...Both are acceptable, the four points suite (2.5*) in Thorold has some good reviews. All their rooms are suites, and a year ago, you could get that property for usually under 40, usually around 30... however, now that the new casino is built.. prices in the area have shot up drastically, I tried bidding for 7/24 and bid up to 50 for the 2.5* with no luck.I tried 3* up to 90, no luck and 4* up to 100...I would suggest you keep trying, you have some time left..
