Juan Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Hi, first of all i'd like to apologize for any misspelling I might have, because english is not my primary language...Now to the topic....I'm traveling to New York with all my family, 5 pople (all adults), from June 2 to June 7, so I need 2 rooms, and i'd like a nice 3* or 4* hotel, near the main sightseeing spots in NYC.I'd be happy for any piece of advice you could give me, for rates to bid, zones to bid, etc...Thank You in advance, and i'll be waiting for any response...
thereuare Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!my family, 5 pople (all adults)... so I need 2 roomsTo begin, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy and many NYC hotel rooms are extremely small, only have one bed, and no room for a rollaway bed.... so using PRICELINE for more than double occupancy is considered a risk. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, you could consider HOTWIRE which allows you to search for up to quad occupancy, but usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.Feel free to ask any questions regarding the above and let us know your thoughts and/or how you'd like to proceed, we'll take it from there. Juan Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 I don't know, maybe we could take that risk, as maybe I could sleep with my wife, my 2 sons together and somehow "pray" for an extra bed or something for my daughter...What do you think?? is this to much to ask??
thereuare Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 It's a risk... one only you (and your family) can decide if you're willing to take. For me, if i'm visiting Orlando or a similar 'family friendyl' hotel then i'm willing to take the calcuated risk, but if i were visiting NYC the risk would be too great since i've seen they have such a large percentage of rooms with only one bed and really tiny rooms. I might take a calcuated risk if i felt confident receiving a particular 4* hotel or knew that all the previously reported 4* hotels had rooms which could accomodate me, but i wouldnt' do it at the 3* level, and more likely, would sooner go with HOTWIRE. I might even take the risk with HOTWIRE, only booking each room for double occupancy if i could ID the hotel beforehand, but without begin able to target any particular hotel on PRICELINE, it would create more tension than i would care to experience leading up to a vacation. This is a very expensive time of year in NYC, so why don't we backtrac a bit and weigh your options... what is your budget for this trip? (per room per nite before taxes and fees) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
