ad1986 Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 I am planning on going to New York with my younger brother for two weeks between the 3-18 June. The hotel doesn't need to be particularly amazing, my main concern is that it is in a reasonably central and safe area, and that it is clean. I am looking at spending around $100 a night but I am slightly flexible about this. What sort of star rating am I looking at for this price? Also, I don't mind splitting the trip into two, or three hotels so long as the average price remains low. Thank you.EDIT:I don't mind commuting so long as it won't cost too much. Is New Jersey advisable?
thereuare Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! We usually don't recommend the lower star rated hotels in NYC as you don't know what you will get. There may be some hotels at the lower star levels which may be acceptable... but there are likely others which are not, and with the opaque providers you can't choose which type you will get.You can choose to roll the dice if you want at the lower star levels (although sub-$100 still seems less than likely) or you can look towards NJ where i think landing a hotel within your budget is much more likely. Not sure you plans for the city, but one issue with NJ is that the busses typically stop running between midnite-1am, so if you intend to have a few late nites you'll have to watch the clock or make other plans to get home.Let us know your thoughts regarding the above and we'll advise for whatever route you'd like to go.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- will you have a car during your stay?
