Priceline Hotel: Need help with bidding?

Hi everyone,

I've been reading for a while but this is clearly my first post.

We are going to Vegas on 8/15 - 8/18. Hoping to stay on the strip (north or south doesn't matter) 4* or 5* (which I'm guessing 5* is unlikely). The issue is that we have 4 people in the room and I read in one of the FAQ's that Priceline normally pushes you into a room with ONE bed and if you have more people in the room you can only request a room with 2 beds.

Anyone know what the best course of action would be? Should I still go for priceline bidding in hopes of being able to get two beds after the fact? I'm really clueless so thank you for ANY help you can provide!!

Oh, I know this is the priceline forum, but I did check hotwire (also through the links here of course) cause I saw that they let you book for 4 and came up with this:

4*, South Strip

Casino

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-speed Internet Access

Golf Nearby

Tennis Nearby

Spa Services

for $176 p/night. I have no idea if this would be a good deal since I can't tell what property it would be in order to check promos/rates, but I assume the cost is including the 4 people. Our max budget is about $550 for the weekend...

Thank you!! :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Best guess is that the property above is the MGM Grand and that would be our best guess. This property, along with most others these days in Vegas, charge for more than double occupancy. With so many hotel rooms at this property i suspect they would likely be able to accomodate your needs (no guarantees though), but it would also likely come with an additional charge. HOWEVER, i will add that i can't get this hotel to appear when searching for more than double occupancy.

You, and those you're traveling with, need to decide if you're willing to take a chance at receiving a hotel which only offers you one bed, and if so, if you're then willing to take the chance that letting them know that you have quad occupancy, will stay make the 'deal' worthwhile.

Not sure of the make-up of your group, but personally i would either:

1) risk it and book for double occupancy (but this is something you will need to decide)

2) seek out a hotel (booking directly) that doesn't charge extra for more than double occupancy

3) if you can stretch your budget at all (say $100 per nite per room before taxes/fees) i would consider trying for two rooms within that price. It's a lot more comfortable with two per room, no occupancy issues, and makes getting ready to go out quicker not having four people waiting on one shower/bathroom.

4) if your budget is firm, consider trying for two rooms at a lower star level (same reasons as above)

Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly.
