Mina Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Hello, First of all, this is a great site and it is really very helpful. I was wondering if you can help me as I am trying to bid to stay in Ottawa from Jun 9 till Jun 12. I tried the strategy you have for Ottawa (adding Hull zone, then Ottawa West zone and the Gloucester zone one by one to Ottawa zone) for 4* hotel but with no success. I went up to 100$ which I think it is above the rates I got from reading other posts, am I doing anything wrong or it is just different rates due to different period and what do suggest me to do. I want to add that I tried 3* up to 90$ (in Ottawa zone only) but again with no success. Please let me know what shall I do. Thanks a lotP.S. I used the link given in the posts.
thereuare Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I think it's your dates... if you look at most of the successful bids for bids under $100 they were for weekend nites. Also, if you search the hotel websites for the hotels win on the given dates, you'll see rates in the $100's... while rates for your dates are in the high $200's/low $300's. (you can use our BetterChecker to make this comparison easy)What is your maximum bid for this trip? If you're not successful with the opaque suppliers, where will you stay? (and how much)Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mina Posted May 14, 2008 Author Report Posted May 14, 2008 Hello Thanks for replying. Actually, I have no other options, I can not delay my trip but I can alter the dates by one day, I tried this already but again no success, I think I will raise the bid till I get something, although I will not be happy at all. I will try first the 2.5* first and I hope I get something good with around 80 bucks ... Do you have any idea about what hotels are there for 2.5*?
thereuare Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 To see hotels reported to the board see the Priceline Hotel List for this area.Don't forget to check HOTWIRE too (but keep in mind that the same hotel can be rated differently on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE)Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help. Mina Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 HiI got Marriott Ottawa at $106 for that period. I bid for $102, I got a message to increase it by 22$, I just increase $4 and I made a rebid and I got it. I know it is expensive, it is exceeded the budget I had in mind, but as I told you before, I had no other options. Thanks a lot for your helpI used PRICELINE link in this wonderful site.
thereuare Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Congratulations on your success! While perhaps more than you originally intended to spend, hotel direct rates for your nites above start at $229CAD, so this is just about half price and an excellent deal for this stay.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
