traci Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Amenities show fitness center, restaurant, internet and business center. Trip Advisor 4.0 rating with 120+ reviews. Retail $289. HOTWIRE $182. Any ideas? This is a 25th anniversary trip, so I don't want to make a tragic mistake.
AaronJB Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Welcome to the site! :)This would appear to be either the Hard Rock or Westin River North, but given the 4.0/5 tripadvisor rating, I would think this is more likely the Westin.I usually offer a series of potential ideas to choose from, but there's really nothing much else on these dates, as this is an expensive weekend. However, if the Hotwire listing is the Westin, it is one of the nicest 4*'s in the city. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link if you decide to book this trip.
traci Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Thank you, Aaron. I appreciate your welcome & your insight. :)
AaronJB Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 My pleasure. :)Additionally, if it is the Westin, you're a few blocks away from a wide variety of restaurants - everything from casual (Portillo's hot Dogs) to wine bars (Bin 36) to eat until they have to wheel you out (Fogo De Chao) to mid & higher end (Rick Bayless's famed Frontera Grill and Brasserie Jo)A walk in the Zoo may also be a fun (and free) activity. I'd also suggest walking through nearby Old Town (which has one of my favorite little stores, the Spice House - a husband/wife-run spice/herb store that is where many of Chicago's top chefs shop) if you do go to the Zoo. The Second City improv theatre is also in Old Town, as well.Any questions, please ask. :)
AaronJB Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Also, please let us know how it goes if you do purchase the HOTWIRE listing.
traci Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Also, please let us know how it goes if you do purchase the HOTWIRE listing.Absolutely. Am awaiting word from DH concerning his wishes for the weekend. :)
traci Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Final resolution on this trip was another HOTWIRE hotel booked through the betterbidding site link--I got the Omni, which was easily identifiable (suites--only one with that description) and we were treated like royalty. Thanks, betterbidding, for taking the guesswork out of this transaction.
