Kara0621 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 I am looking for a hotel in Chicago for Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. So far I have been bidding up to $125 for a 4* hotel in the North Michigan Ave. and Millenium Park and have been unsuccessful. My husband does not want to pay more that $300 for two nights, including taxes. I would be willing to try for a 3*, but I have read that not all the 3* hotels in Millenium Park are that great of have a good location.Could you please suggest what I can do, and what a good bid for this weekend would be? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!$300 for two nights, including taxesHow much is this per nite before taxes and fees? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Based on prices I'm seeing - at least at this point, I'm not sure under $300 total is possible for these dates.
Kara0621 Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! How much is this per nite before taxes and fees? It's about $125-$130 per night before taxes and fees.Based on prices I'm seeing - at least at this point, I'm not sure under $300 total is possible for these dates. What do you think would be a more obtainable price?
AaronJB Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 The majority of 3* and 4* properties on these dates are $300+. I would say you should start at $125 for a 4* in the River North/North Michigan Ave. area. If that isn't accepted, then I would try for $135 24 hours later.

Kara0621 Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 So you have already bid up to your limit?Well I have bid up to my preferred limit. I have to get a hotel room for these two nights, and will go a little higher if necessary. I am also willing to try for a 3*, I just don't know what a good bid for a 3* would be.
thereuare Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 LUCKY DAY!!I just search HOTWIRE for your dates and a 4* hotel (Boutique, Restaurant, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) is apeparing for $123/nite ($287 "all in")... best guess is that this is the Hotel Burnham and it gets great reviews (consistent with the 4.5/5.0 TA rating associated with this property)I assume this will work for your needs? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Kara0621 Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 Thank you so much for your help! Using the HOTWIRE link you provided, I was able to book the Burnham Hotel for $134 a night ($309 total for two nights including taxes). This looks like an excellent place to stay! Better Bidding has been very helpful and I will use it next time I need to book a hotel!
AaronJB Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 $223 per night regular rate, so certainly a good deal. This hotel is a good walk from Michigan Ave, but there is also a shopping area (State St.) right by the hotel. Macy's (the legendary former flagship Marshall Fields) is right there, as is Nordstrom Rack and a few others.
thereuare Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Congratulations on your success! This hotel is one of the top rated in the city and gets great reviews.Glad to hear you were able to take advantage of this rate and are happy with the results. Thanks for sharing your results with the board and for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
