pamfromNS Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 Hello,First time posting........ I have noticed that the Swan and Wyndham both appear to have the same icons. I am looking for June 19-25. I too have a back-up reservation at POFQ for $74 but would love the Dolphin or Swan for even a few nights. Using a combination of dates I am getting exactly the same icons but I think they are referring to two separate hotels - one in the mid $70's and one in the low $80's. When I go into the reviews, the reviews are distinctly different. One reviewer for one hotel specifically refers to being able to walk downtown Disney. This review is not included in the reviews for the other offering with the same icons. Do you have any sense that they change the reviews as well or do you think these might actually be two distinct properties. Further, if they are separate, my guess would be the review referring to "downtown Disney" probably is for Wyndham but I'm not sure whether you can walk to downtown Disney from the Swan. Any suggestions or gut feeling on this one. Thanks,Pam
thereuare Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! What makes you think that the amenities for each are the Swan and the Wyndham are the same? Our HOTWIRE FLORIDA HOTEL list doesn't show them as identical, but maybe you have some additional information? pamfromNS Posted June 12, 2004 Author Report Posted June 12, 2004 Hi Again,Perhaps a little over the top...... but I did a matrix of all 4* hotel offerings that were being presented through the vacation product (both hotel + air and hotel + car). I also added the dimension of what particular properties were being offered for first 2 days, then 3 days, 4, etc. It included ordinals of of the 4*'s from most expensive to least in each combination. Comparing the amenities of the "known" list to the unknown hotel product, I concluded the Swan and Wyndham would likely have the same icons on the hotel product list and that two hotel offerings with this same list of icons had two different sets of reviews by former guests. What I don't know is if the reviews have a random element (i.e., can one property have more than one set of reviews at one time - I know they are updated regularly, but I see this as a different question). nb the only leap I made in my rationale on the Swan/Wyndham comparison is that the Swan is has a resort icon as a vacation product, and I assumed this would be dropped on the hotel product (too identifiable). My list included (all with restaurant, pool, fitness)Crown (plus business, laundry) - although not in Disney areaDolphin (plus business, golf, tennis, laundry)Swan (plus business, golf, tennis, spa)Wyndham (plus business, golf, tennis, spa)Hyatt (plus business, golf, tennis)Celebration (plus high speed, golf, tennis, spa)What I ended up doing, was booking the Dolphin on Expedia for $99 for June 19 (Saturday only) just to try out the hotel. I still have my POFQ reservation for the balance of the week. If the prices move or if I resolve the question, I may re-book. Should I do so, will post the info to this Board.Have a great weekend,Pam
thereuare Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 I appreciate your diligence and enthusiasm, but we maintain the HOTWIRE LIST to make your life easier so that you don't have to go thru the above matrix and exercise. As well, before purchase you can post to the board 'just to be sure' and have a second set of eyes confirm your suspicions.I didn't go thru your entire process to see where the flaw lies, but as of our latest info the Wyndham and the Swan do not have the same amenity icons. As far as Customer Favrorite comments, hotels do have more than 3 comments assoiciated with them and they are rotated from user to user.
