justjoy Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Hello everyone,I need help with searching for a hotel in New York for the dates of 5/10 - 5/12. I would like a 4* hotel for a maximum of $185. Before today, I never heard of bidding for hotels but I have been reading up on the board all day. What still confuses me is the bidding/rebidding process and adding a zone?I do know I would like a hotel in the MTE/MTW/UPM/CPS or even TS. Please provide me with some guidance as to how to bid. Greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!To begin, you'll need to have an understanding of re-bidding... start with this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedAt the 4* level you have four re-bid zones available... please confirm your four re-bid zones with the board and we'll take it from there.If you're confused and/or not able to determine your re-bid zones, list each zone in the NYC region and the highest star rating offered in each zone, using the following technique from Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. justjoy Posted May 2, 2008 Author Report Posted May 2, 2008 Thanks for the quick reply. Okay, so I see there are four areas in the city that do not have hotels at the 4* level. So each time I bid, I should just add one of the areas, which would give me a chance to up my bid if it was taken the first time around? And yes, those zones I listed are the preferred locations.Thank you!
