Andromeda76 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I'm trying to book a 4* hotel for the days of 6/20 - 6/22. Areas: Times Square, MTE, Upper Midtown - CPSBidding History: 100, 120, 145, 175Waiting for 24 hours to pass by.We would like to stay at a 4* hotel the maximum we are willing to pay is $250 - $275.We "may" be willing to stay at a 3* but not in Times Square (had Paramount Hotel...very disappointing). How much should I bid to get a best rate?
thereuare Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is there a reason you're avoiding the MTW and/or MTS zones? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Andromeda76 Posted April 30, 2008 Author Report Posted April 30, 2008 I really don't want to be too far out. I like to be near Times Square as much as possible.
Andromeda76 Posted May 2, 2008 Author Report Posted May 2, 2008 Raised bidding to $200 a night. Still no luck. I'm going to wait another week and bid again. This stinks!
KxLRwp Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Keep trying! Don't give up! Are you using the re-bidding strategies given here in the forum? You should really consider the MTS and MTW zones. The difference in distance is not that great!
thereuare Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 I really don't want to be too far out. I like to be near Times Square as much as possible. You should really consider the MTS and MTW zones. The difference in distance is not that great!I agree...Not sure how familiar you are with NYC, but i'd venture a guess you won't be spending as much time in/around Times Square as you think. If you haven't seen it yet, see this thread with our thoughts on Hotels Near Times Square.Especially during busy times and periods of high demand, it usually pays to include as many acceptable zones as possible as it gives you more bidding opportunities and more hotels the ability to accept your bid.Let us know if/when you're ready to bid again if you'd like to include these other zone(s) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Andromeda76 Posted May 3, 2008 Author Report Posted May 3, 2008 I only been there once it was about two years ago. I would like as much assistance as possible, I am not that familiar about NY. My biggest thing is not to have another bad hotel experience in NY. My sister and I will be going to NY and this is her second time as well.Thank you all for your help.
thereuare Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Most are fine with the hotels in MTE, MTW, UM-CPS, Times Square, and MTS... but each person has different likes and dislikes, so only you can say if the hotels in these areas would be acceptable to you.Let us know if you'd like to include these other zone(s) on your next round of bidding. The other option, since you're concerned about hotel quality, is to use HOTWIRE instead since you can often take an educated guess as to the property offered, and therefore determine if it's something you would be happy with for the price. Andromeda76 Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 Yes, I would like to include these zones to my bidding. I did some quick research, the hotel that we had the bad experience in was a 3* in Times Square. So yes please include those zones.I still would like a 4*; if not possible a 3* is fine as long as its not in Times Square. Thank you so much!
