mando Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I have tried a bid of $150, 3* and 4* in MTE, MTW, TS, and UMT. they have been rejected. I am traveling by myself and have never been to Manhatten. Should I include the Bronx in my search? I don't mind taking the subway during the day just concerned about the night. Are there other areas that would be good to include? Also since I am a single traveler, are the 2* hotels a safe/comfotable option.
thereuare Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 You don't want to stay in the Bronx. Is there a reason you're no including the MTS zone in your bidding? Is $150 your maximum bid for this stay? mando Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 I did try MTS, just forgot to list it. The max I would like to spend is $200. I was hoping to have my offer accepted at $150. I will also use the link to PRICELINE from this stie on my next try.
thereuare Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I suspect that you're within $10-$20 of a win (if you included 3 stars in your bidding above)Did you want to increase your bid at at this point or wait it out and hope that inventory opens up at lower rates between now and your dates of travel? Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel searches and purchases.Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. mando Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 I will wait until next week to try another bid. As a last resort I will book a room with Days Inn. But hopefully the inventory will open up a little bit.
thereuare Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 As a last resort I will book a room with Days InnTo reiterate... i do think you can be successful within your stated maximum bid. mando Posted May 3, 2008 Author Report Posted May 3, 2008 Success!! I was able to get a 3* Roosevelt Hotel MTE for $135 per nightthanks for all the advice
thereuare Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Glad to hear you were ultimately successful... a much better result than the Days Inn :)During your stay give Ess-A-Bagel a try, it's a short walk from this hotel (on Third Ave between 50th-51st St)... one of the best bagels in the city and makes for a good, inexpensive (even though they're $1 bagel now with the rising wheat prices) breakfast, among the locals.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
