Rexbard Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Found this site in the middle of my second bidding, but thought I'd share my results anyway.First bid attempts on 4/24/08. Goal: Resort or 4*, under $135.Marina $100Add City $110Add Diamond Head $115Add Beach $120RestartMarina + Executive $125Add Beach $130Add 4* $120Add City $125Add Diamond Head $130Did more research and read reviews. Noticed Resort and 4* hotels on Priceline's transparent side that I didn't see (or maybe just didn't notice) yesterday.Second bid attempts on 4/25/08. Goal: Prince in Waikiki Marina; under $149 (cheapest rack-rate at the Ala Moana Hotel that I could find, which was my fall-back strategy). Marina $130add Airport $135add Hono $140add Diamond Head $145restartMarina + Beach $135 (accepted) Check-In Date: Sunday, May 4, 2008Check-Out Date: Wednesday, May 7, 2008Hotel Name: Hyatt Regency Waikiki2424 Kalakaua AvenueHonolulu, Hawaii 96815-3289808-923-1234Summary of ChargesYour Offer Price: $135.00Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 3Subtotal: $405.00Taxes and Service Fees: $63.17Total Charges*: $468.17The "Resort Activities" would be 'beachfront", although technically it is across the street from the beach that is behind Duke Kahanamoku's statue.Thoughts: Didn't know the Hyatt Regency was considered a resort, otherwise I may not have added the Waikiki Beach when I did. Not that I dislike the Regency, I just don't know much about it, whereas I do have some experience with other Waikiki-Beach resorts. I've walked by it many times, and never thought of it as a resort. Cheapest rate on their web site at the time of my bid was $177, so I got some savings, but not an awesome amount, but it was within my price-point.
