oosmo Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I've placed multiple bids over the last few days in the following areas: MTE, MTW, MTS, TS & UM-CPS with no luck. I've chosen from 2-4 stars, and bids up to $215.Any suggestions?? A little desperate - airfare booked with no lodging!!
Kazakie Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 cancelable backup res are always a good idea

oosmo Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 Highest bid at 3* was 215, 2* 185 and 2&1/2, unsure.I've since made a back up booking at the Paramount Times Square for average of $285/nt (incl. taxes), just in case priceline doesn't work out. Originally was hoping for something in the 150-175 range but since it doesn't look like that will happen, and if I'm looking at paying up to $285 anyway (without priceline), then I guess that increases my maximum bid!
thereuare Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I'd first suggest using caution when bidding the lower rated hotels in NYC... while some may be fine for your needs, some may not, and with the opaque providers you can't choose which type you will get.HOTWIRE is currently offering a 4* hotel in the Midtown Central zone for $221/nite (best guess is the Helmsley Park Lane which gets pretty good reviews) which would be lower than your current fallback of the paramount.Would this work for your plans or do you want to try PRICELINE?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes or how we can be of further help. oosmo Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 HOTWIRE seems to no longer have that rate - lowest now is 303 for 4*.What would your suggestion for PRICELINE be?Starting to think about trying to get my flight refunded and go another weekend. Not sure why that particular weekend is so hot! And it looks as if people are getting much better rates for other weekends.
thereuare Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Let us know if you decide to get your airfare refunded (although this usually comes with steep penalities) or if you want to proceed with PRICELINE, what you maximum bid will be.There is currently a 3.5* offered on HOTWIRE in the MTE zone for $234/nite.
