aramadima Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Hi, could you please recommend a bidding strategy for DC. Planning to go there 5/14 to 5/16, looking for a 4* hotel somewhere in Convention C / Dupont Circle / Georgetown. Budget around $150 to $200. Is it realistic to get a 4* room with this budget on a week day? Also what's a good hotel to book if I'm going there with my girlfriend. I don't care too much for amenities, but I guess it might make a difference for her.I'm new to this website, looking forward to bid and share my experience with you. :)
thereuare Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Have you already begun researching this stay? Something must be happening during these dates in the DC area as rates are very expensive... i don't think you're going to be able to 'pick and choose' a hotel for this trip as your message implies above.I'd start by finding the best deal you're able to thru traditional channels (use our BetterChecker to assist in your rate search). Let us know the best deal you're able to find outside of PRICELINE and HOTWIRE and we'll then discusss your options to try and beat that deal. aramadima Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 You're right - the rooms are very expensive during that week. It looks like the cheapest available rooms are- Embassy Suites at $350 per night, - the Westin Grand for $419- then all the rest of the 4* hotels in between $400 and $600Not sure what's going on during those days in DC, but I guess it doesn't look very good for us. Do you think it's worth a try bidding with a budget of $150-$200 / night?
thereuare Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 It's always worth bidding as you have nothing to lose and everything to gain... sometimes you're pleasantly surprised. But i would first ask, What will you do if you're not successful up to $200/nite? Raise your maximum bid higher, lower your star rating, cancel the trip, consider other zones, etc? aramadima Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 I just tried bidding in $10 increments from $150 to $200 (using your PRICELINE link). Unfortunately, all bids were rejected. No big deal though, it was just a fun trip we planned for my birthday (hence the week days instead of week-ends). I guess we'll go to Boston or just stay in NYC.Thank you so much for your help! This site is awesome, keep up the good work.
thereuare Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Thanks for the update... sorry to hear you weren't successfulThanks for trying thru our PRICELINE links. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
