jake88 Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I am using priceline to bid on the "Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge" area. I'm going to London from Sept 28 - Oct 2 2008. I don't get how this priceline thing works. so far I've only bid on one area for 1 week now. I've been offered 85 for three days but I needed 4 days so I didn't take it. But when I've bid 95 and still got rejected I've decided to take the previous offer, but that is now gone. I'm looking for a 4* So My question is:1) what would be a fair price for this area?2) what other areas are good that is close to the tube that does not require more then 1 hop from heathrow airport?3) Does Priceline penalize you for bidding on only one area? Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I've been offered 85 for three days but I needed 4 days so I didn't take it.Did you actually try bidding for 3 nites and received a 'counter-offer' stating that you could increase your bid by $xx and bid again immediately? If that's not the case, i'm not sure how you were offered 3 days at $85?You're not penalized for only selecting one zone, but adding more zones increases the number of bidding opportinities you have as well as increases the number of hotels which could possibly accept your bid... so you're chances generally improve when you're able to add additional zones which you're willing to stay, but it's not due to a 'penalty' on the part of PRICELINE.What is the best deal you're able to get for this stay outside of the opaque providers? jake88 Posted April 20, 2008 Author Report Posted April 20, 2008 Yes I've bid on the 3 nights and had a counter offer, however I decided not to accept it...don't ask why. but the best deal I have had was 120 if I stay 4 days, which we decided to do, but now even bidding on that price now, it is still getting rejected.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 How long has it been since you had received that counter-offer? (for the four days)When, and how much, was the counter-offer for the 3 day stay?Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Is $120 the most you have bid for the complete stay? jake88 Posted April 21, 2008 Author Report Posted April 21, 2008 Actually, I just put in a bid for the last two nights and I've put in even 130 and still not being accepted. I've expanded my search area but still no go. I guess this is a bad time to bid on hotels in London.
