Hotwire Hotel: 5* Strip, 3 nights in September, 3 rooms

I have a trip planned in September, 9/18-9/21 and would like some tips for getting the best possible price. I've tried a few different times but think that I might be trying too far out as I'm not even getting a counter. I've seen on the Calendar that some people have got the Pallazo/Venetian for $147 per night and would be extremely happy if I could get it at that price.

Am I trying too far out? Is there an optimal time for getting the best price?

So far I've tried up to $179 but think that I should be able to get a better rate than that. After finding this site I think I should be able to get 3 nights for between $147 and $160 pn. To date I've never even had a counter offer. So, now on a daily basis I've been trying both $139 and $149.

I've also received an email from the Venetian for $139 for weeknights and $199 for weekends...unfortunately this ends about a week before we travel. That special works out at $179 per night. I have a lot of time to go and from reading this site it seems that $147 per night should be achievabe...

I don't think the Venetian or the Palazzo is going to be as easy as you think for these dates.

Rates are date specific, and while it's still quite early and i'd expect rates to change frequently betwen now and your stay, rates for your particular dates are high. The Venetian is going for $479/nite while the Palazzo is $499/nite... if you check hotel direct rates for avaialble dates for the email special you were sent i'd venture a guess that they're not this high.
