kentbrad4d
Been reading many posts and still don't have a good feel for when to bid. Hoping someone can help. I'm taking my 19 year old daughter to Manhattan September 14th to the 17th, 2008. We are planning on seeing a show and doing some shopping. I have a reservation at the Marriot East Manhattan for $980 for the 3 nights. I have seen several winning bids over different time slots at the Westin for ridiculously low dollars ( like $39.00 per night? ). While I'm not holding out hopes of a screaming deal like that, I am hoping to cash in on a cheaper room rate so that we might actually be able to afford to extend our trip a little since the airfare is paid for. Ideally, I'd like a 4* hotel for around $150 a night. Is this possible? Does anyone have any history of bids in this ballpark? If so, when is the optimum time to start bidding for the best price?Any advice is appreciated!Kent :) Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! For "when to bid" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.I am hoping to cash in on a cheaper room rate so that we might actually be able to afford to extend our trip a little since the airfare is paid forIf your airline tickets are bought won't you incurr stiff penalties for extending your trip (ie- changing your dates of travel)I'd like a 4* hotel for around $150 a night. Is this possible? Does anyone have any history of bids in this ballpark?Possible... but not very likely. Fall is an expensive time in NYC and you can start lower, but i think you should be prepared to bid higher. You can see rates last year at this time in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.Let us know if/when you're ready to bid, and which zone(s) you're willing to accept, and we'll advise accordingly. captain trips
hi there.similar situation. my parents are going to nyc and i'm trying to get them a room from sept 3-6. So far I have gone upto $150 for a four star hotel in the theatre/times square, mid-town east and midtown west districts without any luck. Any ideas? My other question is this. Do some hotels have different minimums. By this I mean if I bid $230 for a room is it more likely I would not get a the millenium broadway vs. if I bid $200?t Link to comment
