I will be travelling to Boston to see the Bruins play the Canadiens on Tuesday and wanted to stay in the downtown area. I am new to priceline and dont quite know how to work out the bidding process. I have read other posts but dont understand the rebid process since priceline does not allow me to rebid. Can someone help me out with this? I guess the Copley or Quincy areas would be best for getting to and from the Garden. Suggestions would be appreciated.

John - If you look at my post for my win for the 4* Westin Waterfront for $115.00 on 5/24 - 5/25 - you will see a great bidding strategy that thereuare gave me - we did not use the Copley Sq area though as we were trying not to stay there - I will give you what I THINK would be the strategy to use (although I am sort of new to this also)which is only for a 4*, or you could wait until thereuare or someone else who is great at this responds...the Westin Waterfront is down by the Convention Center which is just a short distance I think from Quincy Mkt (off the silver line - world trade ctr stop) which is on the "T" line also, so if you DONT want to stay there DONT use this bidding strategy - also when the strategy says close your browser - close both web pages - (the savings barn link & this forum link & then start everything over & it will let you do the next step) - you wont be able to rebid before 24 hrs of your rejected offer from priceline if you have already tried to bid today for these areas....I just checked & the free rebid zones I used to get the 4* hotel are still there, but that could change if you cant bid now as you should always check the rebid zones before you start...if you are not familiar with re-bidding read Priceline re-Bidding Explained on this forum....

well went through the detailed bidding and no go up to 125$. Should i lower the star rating to 3?

Do i have to change names and credit card to rebid with slightly higher pricing?

John - If I were you I would wait until one of the "experts" replies that will give you the best bidding strategy at this point to lower the star rating to a 3* - I would be guessing that by adding the 3* at this point they will be using your $125.00 max bid on the 4* which I can only guess is too high for possibly getting a 3* hotel....I would hope you might do much better than that price although when I look on Quickbook.com it does say that there is limited availability for 4/15 - maybe there is a big convetion or something going on this week?????? I'm sure someone has some better strategies for you to try at this point....good luck - allie

John - I see no one has replied to your question - my suggestion to you at this point would be that if you are comfortable in trying for a 3* - when I just looked at priceline, all 3 zones you were trying for before (Quincy, Copley, & Waterfront) have 3* hotels also in their zones & the 3 "free rebid zones" you were using before all still look OK to use (although before you bid you should recheck to be sure nothing changed), so I would try again after your 24hr waiting period for priceline is up today & use the same strategy as before only use 3* instead of 4* like you tried yesterday. I don't know much about what hotels are the 3* on priceline, as I have only won 4* (& I am still learning about these bidding strategies myself!!) - but if you are comfortable in trying this I hope it works for you....allie
