Meems Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Hi. I have been looking for a 4* hotel and have had no luck for the dates. (5/15 to 5/19). Due to Spring in NYC, these dates have elevated prices and any deals have these dates blacked out. Last week and week before I bid on Priceline with no luck. Started at $150.00 and worked my way up to $200.00 in the MTE, MTW & MTS zones.I have been watching this board for some time and now see people are getting the Omni Berkshire Place 4* for $240.00 night. I checked the Omni out and looks like a really nice place in a good location. $240.00 night seems like a great deal! Got really good reviews on Trip advisor too!So, if I want to try and get this hotel (Omni Berkshire) on Priceline do I just bid one time at 240.00 for MTE and if rejected try again next day? I do have a backup place for $215.00/night in same area ....MTE... 3*. 48 hrs cancellation. I am also willing to "gamble" and wait until the week we go. Does that strategy work for 4* hotels? My husband and I will be in NYC for my 40th bday and would be nice to have a nicer room.... that's why I'm aiming for the 4*. Seems that some 3 *s can be "iffy".Thanks!

Meems Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 The backup is near St. Pats Cathedral and is a nice clean room. I'm comfortable with it for the price. As of now I have 2 twin beds booked (only room available) but have been calling and hoping a queen bed will open up. I do not wish to say the name of the place as it is not advertised and is "word of mouth, place." I had my friend go look at it on Saturday and room is nice with alot of character. Originally my thoughts on this trip were, "I just want a clean room... dont need alot of amenities..... lets put money into entertainment.... willing to pay $200.00/night." Now that I see for a little more I can possibly get a 4 star hotel I'm thinking about trying for that.
