Priceline Newbie Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Hello! I am both a new member and new Priceline user. I have searched the board for help and have used the board links to bid for a 3 star or Resort level hotel in Key West for May 20 to May 28. I have bid the following:Resort Only 3 Star and Resort75 - 5080 - 60 100 - 70 120 - 80135 - 90145 - 112155 - 120I believe I have been maxmizing my bids by first trying Resort Only then adding 3 star but lowering the bid amount. I thought I would have gotten a bite, but nothing. I do not want to stay at the Raddison, so I do not want to lower the star level. I could go up to $200, but I could book the 3 Star Sheraton Suites for less with AAA or Net Pre-pay rates. Should I be doing anything else? Anything differently?
thereuare Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Key West is typically a tough PRICELINE zone to get consistent deals and/or deep discounts. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Priceline Newbie Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 I had considered that. There is a significant difference in rates for the days requested.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 What is the rate breakdown? (by day) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Priceline Newbie Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 What is the rate breakdown? (by day)Doubletree 180 $180 $180 $225 $225 $225 $144 144Casa Marina Resort149 $149 $219 $279 $279 $259 $199 199Crowne Plaza La Concha 324.00 $324.00 $324.00 $324.00 $324.00 $324.00 $189.00 $189.00 I'd love to get the Crown Plaza, but I think the others would hit first if I raised the bid high enough.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Since the higher rates are in the middle of the stay, it makes it tough to get the best price without switching hotels twice (ie- 3 different properties). You may be willing to switch twice, or you can at least try to bid for part of your stay and then make alternate plans for the balance of your stay (thru HOTWIRE or antoher non-PRICELINE source)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Priceline Newbie Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 It would be really tough to switch once, let alone twice, due to the large amount of material we're traveling with. I think this is a case where PRICELINE cannot meet our needs. Thanks for the help and advice!
thereuare Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 You may want to check HOTWIRE which has a great propensity to average nightly rates over the course of the stay.If you ultimatley go with the Sheraton you mentioned above, please use our Sheraton link in our support pageThanks!
