Priceline Hotel: October - too early?

Hi, I am currently researching a vacation to Chicago in October of this year. I am aware of the fact that I am a little early, but I like to plan ahead! I have been bidding for 4* Chicago in downtown and the Mag Mile. I have got as far as $165 and still nothing.

Is this because I am too early, or is this is a busy time as I have looked on the bidding history here and lots of people have got rooms for less than that. I have also looked at Hotwire and Expedia and can't fins anything decent below $200. Is this what I will have to pay?

I am a single 26 year old female who would like to be near the centre of things so I can occupy myself for 3 or 4 days.

Hi, I will use the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links on this site to book anything I can get.

If it makes it easier for you to help me, my possible dates in October are 25th-29th or 27th-31st.

If you could advise on if I trying to be too early and this is why I can't get a room cheap, it would be much appreciated.

When you say you've been bidding "Downtown and the Mag Mile" i assume you mean the Loop and the NMA zones?

It's not too early to bid... but it is too early to bid as high as you have already.

If you feel more comfortable having "something" you can book a cancellable back-up at the Ambassador East for $169/nite thru Quickbook (available for either set of dates you're considering). If you do book this please use the Quickbook link provided in this thread.

In the end I booked a bed and breakfast as I couldn't find anything on hotwire and priceline for under $160 per night for that weekend.
